I am ognna be ordering my set of Black Dog's soon and was wondering:...
I want a Nickel Covered 4 conductor set, so nothing out of the ordinary, so to save waiting too long I could order them from one of the UK dealers?
Since they are pretty standard I'm sure they won't be too hard to find, and they are still handwound, jusat they are already made, right?
Bit of a silly question I guess, it's just I can't bear the though of my Edwards LP sitting there with no pickups in (part of the funding is coming from selling the SD's in the Edwards) while your monkeys (read: employees :) ) are winding away...

The shop stock BKPs are 100% the same as direct ordered BKPs, you just don't get to talk with Tim over the phone!
I guess it will ba a case of does your dealer have them in stock, and remember that sometimes BKP have some stock on hand too.

Cool, once I have the cash I'll ring around and see who's got them in then, cheers HJM.

Absolutley, we make all our pickups the same, the only benefit of coming directly to me is to really check you're getting the right thing but you can do that through the forum just as easily.
A quick glance at the dealer list should hook you up with a set in no time.
Electro Music in Doncaster have a set fitted to a demo Tokai as does Jonathon at Feline, these guys are more proactive than some and really know their stuff.Any problems and I can always do it obviously :D .

Tim is the mainman , but I amongst others am very knowledgeable and am also constantly trying to download Tim's mainframe of knowledge (IE - we're always on the phone to him).
If you have a local tech who is also a dealer , then maybe he or she might be a good person to use as they may also be the one who will do other servicing for you.
Tim is really cool about supporting his dealers and they in turn do everything they can to help spread the usage of the product. He also carefully picks his dealers and works closely with them to give the best possible service to the customers and potential users of his pickups

the turn around time for ordering direct isn't very long though

Really, how long on average would you say?
I might be around Feline's neck of the woods within the next few weeks anyway, I might drop in and have a look.

I've ordered three times direct and the longest turnaround was 2 weeks - so its not a long wait :D
