Title: Carl Martin Quattro - Anyone tried one?
Post by: Ken of Reflector on June 06, 2008, 12:52:55 PM
Hi all.  I am playing Les Pauls and Strats through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a Celestion Vintage 30 Speaker using a Marshall Bluesbreaker pedal.  also have a Boss DD6 delay an acoustic simulator and a Marshall Vibratrem.  The Bluesbreaker through teh fender cleam channel is oustandingly good by the way.  My Humbuckers are BKP Abraxas which I totally adore.  I like simplicity and want to ditch my various pedals (except the Bluesbreaker) for a Carl Martin Quattro which is simply plug into the mains and play....with Delay, Comressor, tremolo and overdrives all in one.

Anyone tried one? Any comments? (Good or bad) - thanks.

I've not played the Quattro but CM generally makes very high quality kit.

I was reading a rave review of it a couple of weeks ago, I think it was in Guitar Player.  I'll have a look later and see what issue it was.

I must say it appeals to me a lot.  I'd like a few basic FX but I'm not hugely interested in them so I can't be bothered to research all the thousands of pedals on the market - there seems to be a different "flavour of the month" boutique pedal maker every, er.... month.     Simple is best.

if you get a new quattro, they've now replaced the tremolo with chorus. i'd say chorus would appeal to more players, though if you prefer tremolo i'm sure you can still find one of the old ones.

Well spotted - I hadn't noticed that, it explains why Guitar Player would be reviewing a relatively old product again.

I guess tremolo is a bit specialised for a box which is intended to include the "essential" FX for as many people as possible, but it's more fun than chorus.

(Edit: it wasn't Guitar Player at all.  Guitarist, issue 299.)

ah yeah, i remember reading that somewhere (probably in the review philly mentioned). haven't tried it though, so can't help there. :(

welcome to the forum, by the way, Ken of Reflector.
