Title: Which Organic Classic?
Post by: Lew on June 06, 2008, 08:18:03 PM
I'm 99% sure I'll be buying an Organic in the next week or so.

I cant decide which one between these three though!!
I'm leaning toward the quilt right now and the Zebra being my least favourite but it changes daily ;P

Opinions are apreciated!

Personally I like the zebra best...

Just had a look at their site - they look lovey...  Cost a fair amount, I'd imagine?

I personally think the quilt looks the best!

There was a great feature last year or so in Guitar Buyer following the process of building an Organic Guitar, was really interesting.

Definately the Zebra! However i don't like their necks - the way they wax the mahogany... it feels stickier than paint; do you not think?

hmmm I like the feel of worn in laquer and oil finished necks but I'm not keen on greasy feeling necks... it's a good point, on newly laquered necks I have used steel wool very lightly when it get's greasy(tip from Jonathan).

As I understand it, they are single pieces of wood carved and a veneer top, not a body and a neck.

No - it's a separate neck - just set into the body and carved and contoured in
Duncan uses some nice CNC stuff to get the basics madeand then works it all together by hand

Think the bottom one looks the best.

Although I'm really not a fan of Organic body-shapes. Is it just me?  :?

The natural quilt has got my vote, although they are all pretty damn sexual!

Thanks Jonathan, the guitar shop I rang were wrong ;P

The bottom one in my op has a funny colouring on the fretboard on the first few frets, its pretty unique but I reckon it could bother me after a while.

They look nice with some colour on but it up's the price alot

I asked Tim about the pickups in these and he said they are very similar to the Abraxas(not tried those).

I've been thinking about the shape of these guitars, and they really remind me of something...  I remember seeing an ad with Trevor Rabin (I think) endorsing a guitar that looked a lot like this body shape - can't remember what it was for the life of me, I don't think that it was mainstream.  And it was about 20 years ago...

The body shape looks very similar to the schecter stilleto basses and guitars to me.

Here's a bigger pic of the quilted one, the pic isn't the best quality, would have been beter done in natural light not a dark room :?

The angle makes it look like it's missing a fret too, the end of a neck has a step.

Happens to us all, Mr B.

It's when we can't remember things like that at all that we'll need to start worrying...

That's what it was like for our generation, young feller-me-lad.  No first names until you're properly introduced, and then only on informal occasions.

I have an Organic Standard for sale, for exactly £1000, in perfect condition.

I know I'm probably not meant to spam.... but this seems like it might be of genuine interest to people reading this thread, so I thought I might push my luck!!
