Err, I have no GAS. And it's unsettling.
There's no guitars I want or need, I have a few amps and cabs that I'm really happy with, and my pedalboard is perfect.
All the guitars that I wanted pickups for have now got those pickups (mostly BKPs) and my Squier Strat project is complete.
I'm scared. Is the world about to end? :o
-
I think this is the dormant state of GAS, sooner or later GAS is gonna smack you in the face, coincidentally as you smack your gob as you gawk at some AWESOME guitar, which you can imagine playing out in your own home/performance. And may result in the sacrifice of your current guitars or even your amp :o
Or yes, the world is going to end.
-
You are in serious trouble and you may have endangered the rest of us aswell. We should have no more speak of this lack of GAS and maybe get Ol to delete this thread...
-
Please, take some of mine. It is unbearable.
-
easy cure for that is to start listening to (or better yet, trying to play) slightly different music from what you usually do. hey presto, you have GAS for a whole new rig.
-

No, I've been the same for weeks. And I haven't got anything like the amount of gear you have (amps or pedal wise, that is  ).
I have a few projects in the works, but already got all the parts so they're not costing me anything. And I do have another idea in mind, but can't decide whether to get a custom job (eventually) or do it on the cheap. So it's not stressing me at all.
It's nice, enjoy it while it lasts.
-
I feel the same, I'm happy with what I have (except for one guitar I'm still undecided about...) and not lusting after much. Still planning a custom job though...
-
Have gas for a feline LP but after that love my amps, pedal etc

This is the reason I ended up buying a Fender Tele. Listened to a lot of country + country rock for a few weeks, and nothing else would do.
-
I think you may have reached guitar Nirvana.

Err, I have no GAS. And it's unsettling.
How about I 'borrow' your Mira for, I dunno... a couple of years or two? That way you will have G.A.S. to get it back, and when (eventually) I return it, it will be of no extra cost to you!!! What a plan that is, eh?! :D
-
a couple of years or two?
Interesting phraseology Sambo.
Don't worry Twinfan; a lack of GAS is a shortlived thing.

Sounds like it's time to actually PLAY what you got !
If I spent as much time practicing as I do reading up about different guitar gear online, I'd be as good as EVH.
I do suspect that this state of peace in the Twinfan GAS-brain may be relatively short-lived, so just enjoy it while it lasts.

Hmmm. What a strange idea. Play it? I can't quite get my head round the concept. :?
-
yeah more playin less reading or forums..then maybe I'd be good

LOL! Oh dear, that's a new low.

I think that's it. I've got all the gear now that gives me the sounds in my head and I have 'my' tone. I don't think I was expecting ever finding it!
Sambo - the Mira is my favourite guitar. So you're not having it
-
I dont think the gas will ever go but I'm one of those who thinks they want/need something but ends up over thinking it and in the end doesnt buy it  Quite content with what I have now. Had the Epi since 2002 and Pearl for a few months now I think, love playing em both tho the pearl really needs a setup. Will take it up to Wez or down to Feline when I get some extra money. Oh and my Laney is still sounding great after 1 and a half years in my posession :) I really want a JCM800 and SG again after listening to my Indian Sumemr discography tho, such an awesome raw tone :)

More than the McCarty? Or do you have rotating favourites like I do?

Same. It's a cheap, yet so unsatisfying, kind of GAS.
-
I believe I've found my tone (modded Marshall with PRS) and have no GAS for guitar stuff at present- I do however have serious intentions to buy a fast bike-sold my Lotus recently so have some cash doing nothing.............
-
Look at this.
It is nice.
It is the perfect head for your new super strat.

The Mira is my #1, but the McCarty fills the 'LP singing fat blues tone' gap that the Mira doesn't quite do. The pair of them cover all the classic rock/blues tones I'd ever need. And they're just sooooooooooooooo nice to play.

Oooh, I would like one of those McCartys. Despite my GAS-free claims  . I think I might like it even more than the Mira.
But it ain't gonna happen, they're just too much money (not overpriced, just too much for me).
-
You'd love it Philly. Just your cup of tea. Not helping the GAS am I? ;)
I think a Korina Mira would rock an absolute fat one. That would be a killer guitar...

Oh stop. There I was, GAS free, and the thought of that McCarty is starting to nag :( .... Guitar Village have got one in that nice pale sunburst colour.
Maybe I could P/X the Mira.....

That one at Guitar Village is a steal. I paid more than that for mine.
There's one the same as mine at Machinehead for £1799 and one in natural with birds and gold hardware at Guitars4You for £1999.
If you like the colour, Guitar Village's is the one to get. Just check it's a one piece body if you're bothered about these things as the McKorinas can have up to three pieces. Not accpetable on a £1500+ guitar in my opinion, but I think they get a bit limited by the wood supply.

Aaaarrggghhhhh!! Dave, what are you doing to me!! :x
Thanks for the heads-up on the body woods, I just thought PRS bodies were always one-piece. It's impossible to tell from the pics, but should be obvious from the end-grain. Maybe limba's like alder, and the trees aren't that big?
(Edit: Forget that, I just found this: The Limba tree reaches 150 feet at maturity with trunk diameter up to 96"  )

Yes tis very nice, gonna make a focused effort to see some when I return from Le Mans.
-

Get it bought ;)
The body woods thing is a bit odd. The other two McKorinas for sale in the UK have a one piece body, as does mine, and it looks like the GV one has too but you can't tell for certain from the pic...
-
Talking of McCarthys - have you guys seen the new DGT? McCarthy body, nitro finish, PAF-style pups, big neck, trem... Sound VERY interesting - I'd love to give one a go, even if I'd never buy it.

Well, OK, I'm going to make enquiries.....
but if I buy it the Mira has to go.
-
Take a trip there, Mira in hand, and do a back to back. Best way to find out what suits you :)

Yeah, the DGT looks mighty fine (and to think at the start of this thread I was talking about having no GAS....  ). Up in that serious-money £2K price range though....
But the only reason I'm even thinking about the McKorina is because it is korina. I've always wanted a korina guitar, and since a '58 Fliying V or Explorer is out of the question.....

Exactly the same as me Phil! No-one else is building a high quality solid Korina guitar with humbuckers unless you go custom.
As for the DGT, the trem puts me off as does the slightly clunky extra volume knob.

Yeah, custom's the other option, but that would be even more pricey (although payment could be delayed quite a bit!).
On the DGT, although I normally can't stand trem systems, I really like the PRS one, it wouldn't be a deal-breaker for me. It feels nice and positive, doesn't adversely affect tone and even seems to stay in tune when you bend strings. Lovely piece of design.
I agree about the extra volume control, it makes it look like one of those ESP LPs - which are nice, but it looks wrong on a PRS. But apparently Grissom really likes the subleties of that middle position with two volume controls. I've never been a big fan of the middle position myself, except when the pickups are out of phase.

I must have serious/chronic gas, as I am never 100% happy with my equipment, starting to wonder if I ever will be. For me there is no 'peak' there is always something better, just when you think you have found the best, but I am a renouned nutter in my local area.

Ha ha - yeah! That's just a slight niggle though to cure a 1% error in my rig. Nothing major ;)
