Wanted to see between the buried and me - But on at the same time as In Flames, and a little birdy told me they're playing Clayman - No way can I miss that!
-
I'm going! However, i'm seeing a lot less bands than that haha but i'll just be getting w**kerd at my tent for most of it.
I'm looking forward to seeing Testament and Kiss the most.
Edit: oh and Municipal Waste!!

Dillinger/Testament/Cavalera(sepultura) and In Flames for me.
And that's just the bands I PLAN to see, not the bands I'll end up seeing :p

I was offered free tickets and mulled it over for a bit, but since I'm going to Hellfest the week after, the lineup isn't anywhere remotely worth the cost of drinking and eating whilst there.
It's a shame, but the quality of the festival absolutely plummets year after year.
-
I've been the last 3 years but decided not to bother, kind of ironic how I used to be a huge bodom fan and the year they play download is the year I'm not there
I'll be at bloodstock instead, better line up for me at half the price

Hellfest line is absolutely amazing.
Meshuggah AND Dillinger - Wish I could go to both.

You should have just gone to Hellfest bud, cheaper weekend than Download (including all the travel - and I'm going from Fife to Birmingham to London to France and back again) by far. For 1000% better lineup.
-
I would've, but if I'm going abroad, I'd go to Metalcamp - Amazing lineup there aswell as gorgeous scenery.
-
Fave acts?
For me, in order...
Dillinger Escape Plan
Testament
Judas Priest
Incubus
and then the following were all equally brilliant.
Lethal Bizzle
Municipal Waste
Amon Amarth
Firewind
Motorhead
And In Flames were abysmal =(
Don't you hate it when your fave band dissapoints.
-
I just got back, and it was amazing.
Kiss did one of the best sets/shows i have ever seen!

Dillinger set was on during the kiss one, I went to dillinger ofcourse (pretty much my fave ever band), and it finished before the Kiss Finale, so I managed to see the first 20 mins of kiss, go to dillinger, and see the whole last 40 mins of kiss - Overall, I thought they were rather epic, but so not my type of thing - And apparently they didn't play Dr Love - which is heresy imo!
-
Haha they didn't, they played Kiss Alive then after that they played some extra songs. They also had fireworks everywhere and solos with fireworks coming from guitars and gene simmons with blood coming out of his mouth and paul stanley flying through the crowd on a zip wire hahaha.
-
Glad you enjoyed it Joe
It's a good live show
I'm hoping they come back and do an arena or theatre tour next year.

You may be in luck, Paul Stanley said to the crowd Kiss would come back next year with a tour.
Edit: Here's a little taster of what you can expect - (http://a911.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/102/l_7c38a6a4183ab395243bbdb3b291be76.jpg)

Just been chatting to a few old folks who went. Apparently Friday was the best day, all the classics really. The KISS show was apparently boring to those who had already seen it, same old stuff for how ever many decades, but still a good watch.
WildHearts got kicked off stage for requesting everything not attached to the floor to be thrown at them :? toilet seat, apple, egg (Ginger caught it!), bottles.
Maybe I should have gone...
-
TBH if you go to a Kiss show expecting not to hear all the classic songs then you're a retard.

I've heard the same from friends of mine that went.
It's the same setlist in main that they have played for 30+ years
It's a good setlist but if you have seen the band maybe 20+ times it might seem like nothing new.
I love them to death but even I find it a bit predictable.
I'm sure they had an influence on Ranmmstein though!
Seeing Ace Frehley do a solo show in London a few months ago was pretty magic though! (He played on Saturday at Download)
-
I saw Ace aswel Jonathon, he was quality, put on a great show, especially when he got the smoking guitar out!
-
Wow... KISS must really hate their jobs :/
if the same show is boring after 2 watches, the actual band must be bored off their bloody heads after 30 years!
If only Australia had this kind of thing... the Download lineup sounds tops... but I take comfort in knowing that I'm seeing Opeth in September 8)
