OK, so I'm jumping the gun a bit, I still have to do the final assembly tonight.......BUT....... I've finished a project YAY ME!!!!!!
I've made a quick and easy CBG, left it all fairly rough as it was a bit of an experiment (so that the next one, which is going to be a bit special, goes more smoothly). I'm really happy with it although I wish I'd have made the pick up hole a bit neater (although I might get a pup ring cut next time I'm at the laser cutters). Generally built infront of the telly with a staley knife and microsaw. I didn't want to use any power tools and only used a power hand-drill as I couldn't find my hand one.
As I can't get on anywhere to upload the pics, could some kind sole please drop me a PM with their email address on so that I can send them some pics and they can post them.
Like I say I need to do the final assemble (although it's already been together once) and I also need to have it wired up by one of my mates, but as it only has a volume pot, it should be fairly easy.
SPECS:
Body - Err, a Cigar Box with a bit of pine in it (3 x 1 inch I think)
Neck - Off a Squire, kindly donated by WezV
Hardware - Gotoh stuff I had laying around & original Squire tuners
Electrics - 2 old single coil pups (again from Wez) duct taped together to make a BIG FAT HB. Single volume pot and jack socket. Animal from the Muppets as the volume knob although it will probably be changed for a dice or something else I have laying about
Cost - Donation to air ambulance for the cigar box (put about £3 in - they get a lot of my money anyway) and that was about it, everything else was laying about or swapped for
I'll let you know how it plays tomorrow and hopefully get some pics up.

send them to me if you want... i want to see how its looking!!

yeah, i owuld just be sticking them on photobucket... dont forget you could also add them as an attachment when you write a post
-
I can't open photobucket or similar sites due to the work server. Well I can't really open much that's fun
It's all finished and strung up. Looks like I may have stuck the bridge on a mm or so out, but it doesn't really affect anything.
I was expecting this to be really neck heavy, but that really doesn't seem to be the case and it balances fairly well.
Camera's sim card was full last night (just got back frm holiday), so wifey has taken it to work to sort some photo's out. Hopefully there will be space on it and I'll take some tonight.

gotta say its the first CBG i have seen with the health warnings included!!
looks real fun

Brilliant.

Wow, :) This made me smile, it's looks pretty damn cool! Also, the 'muppets' character is great! Don't swap him for a dice! :D.
I'd love to turn up to a gig, and pull out that, it'd be awesome. :)
-
Wicked!! Animal's a great touch too. Be sure to keep us posted when you get 'er wired up!
-
If you can make one without the health warnings, I guess that must be the 'vintage' side of CBGs!
-
EDIT: ^good joke- better than my feeble effort...
awesome!
heed those warnings and make sure you don't accidentally set it on fire... 8)
-
awesome :D
-
What an odd project...
CLIPS!
-
+1 for clips.
I kinda want to build one too, would be funny, especialy in a live situation !!
-
Cheers for posting the pics Wez....... and cheers to everyone else who likes it.
They're fairly easy to build. I couldn't get to sleep last night as I was planning how to build the next one.
Not quite sure how I'll be able to get a clip on, but I'll see what I can do....... it wont be me playing it tough, that's for sure.
-
Thats awesome :D
-
I love it! :D
-
That's bloody superb! Great work :)
One of those but massively downtuned and loaded with ceramic pigs would be really fun for a gig situation :D

Cool, cheers for that. :D
Very off topic, but Patrick Stewart has just been playing with my wifes cod-piece. Yes - you heard me right. :?

Is that a euphemism?
-
Sadly not, it's all true.

You should try selling this thing to Bo Diddley!
it looks awesome, unique for sure.

Don't think he'll be interested in buying it (http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/news/20080602_didley.shtml)

Yeah could be difficult
Took it down to my borthers stag night for a couple of bona fide musicians to have a play with. They thought it was well cool and both want to play it live. Might get it wired and set up in time for when he plays at a festival in Gloucester (I think) this summer.
I'm really staoked that everyone likes it, cheers for all the kind words guys.

Just found this topic to link to and I forgot to add to it when I got it fininshed.
Wired it all up and this thing is awesome. There's a couple of little bits that I'll do better on the next one as this one was a bit of a sling together drunken experiment (things like line the bridge up properly (it's about 3/4 of a mill out - also the braceing for the bridge needs to be beefier as it flexs forwards a bit).
Looks bloody good sat in the front room, people look at it funny (excpet guitarists who generally just laugh)
One day I'll rebuild it properly, but it has a certain home made feel at the minute which I like.

I'd forgotten this - tis an absolute classic :D
