Just lately my Gib Sg has got a sticky neck, now maybe used wrong polish or something...but is damn anoying(is a painted neck)..so short of refinishing any quick...and as always cheap fixes
-
a quick rub down with 0000 liberon wire wool and a bit of bri wax will take the shine off the finish and make it quite sleek
if you want to keep it high gloss then buy this micro mesh hobby kit and work through the grades.. gets it super shiny but still feels very sleek

lighter fluid (naptha) is a good cleaner if its gunk thats making the neck sticky

Yeah, micromesh is cool, I was using it for a couple of finish touch-ups yesterday (still managed to rub through, unfortunately... ).
And I used it the other day to put a shine on some stainless-steel screws.
