Post by: FernandoDuarte on June 14, 2008, 12:37:24 AM
Sorry about England don't be playing, but today I watched Romania 1 vs 1 Italy and Netherlands 4 vs 1 France and they were two of the BEST games I've EVER seen!!!!!!!
Coming back to work after vacation on Tuesday... will try to watch the games, but will miss some

Anybody here is watching it???

I follow it rather closely, but I can't watch every game. Great round this time, as far as I've noticed there hasn't been a boring match yet!

I'm not a football fan at all. But I'm watching this Eurocup closely.

We got a big screen in the local watering hole. The Dutch hasn't been this good in years.

Stil half drunk and half hungover from last night.

Hell yeah Ratrod!!
I'm trying to buy a jersey from Netherlands, but didn't find the goalkeeper's jersey... The orange is amazing, but the white thing with the lion is kinda weird, not sure if I want one of these  :?

I'm supporting Portugal, Italy (both from my ancestry) and Dutch!!!

It's also nice too see that the supporters are behaving well. Apart from some minor incidents.

I'm cheering for Sweden in this one.  Well gutted they got beat in the last minute by Spain

Proving to be a quite good tornament this year.

I always gravitate towards the dutch or germans. Not sure why. The Holland/France game was amazing though.

Shame Scotland never got through though, we might have had a good run, not won, but maybe close   Ah who am I kidding? We woulda got butt munched anyway. Austria are utter pants though.

Was a good game, but Austria made terrible attempts to the goal... Sorry for them, they played with heart!

Turkey's 3-2 victory over Czech Republic after a 0-2 was pretty awesome. For all Turkish people in the world, this must have been an amazing experience.

Maybe we should start a South American World Cup qualifying discussion just for Fernando? Just be sure not to mention Paraguay....

Yeah, they've played damn near flawless this year. Spain, Portugal, and Croatia are other favourites of mine. They always play great within the groups, then get beaten underservedly by a less convincing team (usually Germany) in the quarter finals. Such a shame, but one can always hope it doesn't happen this time.

Today gonna be Brazil vs Argentina and it's like England vs France, but I'm cheering up for the "hermanos" only because if they win the match, Brazil will win too, the coach will have the head cut down and we will be way more stronger... It's his first job as coach and it's completely stupid!

Win a game by deliberately pushing a guy without the judge's notice. Real fine played, Germany.

At the moment I get the impression that it will be a Germany  v Italy final - not the best two teams but they are grinding out results when it matters...

Not exactly 'o jogo bonita' as Fermando would say, but very effective

Yeah... that's what I hate about these Cups. The fate of Europe is now in the hands of Turkey. Seriously, if they beat Germany we should grant them EU membership on the spot.

OK folks - I think that I am starting to see a pattern here...

Portugal v Germany - I went for Portugal

Croatia v Turkey - I went for Croatia

Holland v Russia - I went for Holland

Um, errr - good job I did not put any £££ on the results!!

If I were you I'd get and put some cash on Italy tomorrow as I am going for Spain!

^Agreed completely! Russia was a whole lot better today, and if they can beat Holland, they can beat Italy and Spain, too. But being the pessimist that I am, it means they'll lose the final to Germany.

bonita is like pretty, for girls... the male adjective is bonito, like handsome  :D

If Russia keep playing the way they played today, they can win this cup... I'm completely surprised by them, have not seen their games and I thought that would be a very hard, ugly way of play... But they did an amazing game, playing very nice!

I was really cheering up for Holland

I've been supporting Italy, and it's not nearly as fun as I'd hoped  :(

But congratulations to Russia and Turkey, deserved wins both. Russia vs. Turkey Final would be great, but in reality I think the turks will struggle against Germany, after a match like that and with tuncay and others out. Russia could certainly go all the way- but Spain have already beaten them 4-1 in the tournament, and the mental barrier of that will have a huge effect if Spain beat Italy.
Best of luck to them!

I think the Germans will get in the final, and most likely win it. They are a solid team. Having said that there were some gaps in their game with Portugal and if there was a bit more time left in the game i think Portugal would have pulled it level at 3-3 and gone to extra time as they were looking strong. The only team i can see troubling Germany is Russia, their performance last night was outstanding and i'd love to see them win it.

Well, the orange party is over.

IMO the Dutch team sucked. They didn't play like they did in the pools and couldn't get a grip on the match.

Russia played strong. Guus Hiddink certainly knows what he's doing.

Fernando

Nothing to do with language... more like the problem that Ronaldo had!

Anyway, I look too much like a gringo to go to Copacabana beach - it is too dangerous.

Where do you live in Brazil? I've been there quite a few times. Sao Paolo, Rio, Belo Horizonte. Some work - some holidays.

I imagine that as a very uncomfortable "Don't you know who I am?!" situation.

Has it reached the point where the young generation no longer know who Pele is?  Or don't they care?

Boy that was a good game (the bits where it wasn't cut off by power shortages). OK I was routing for the Krauts but I really felt sad for the Turkish side, they played with such speed and initiative, for a lot of the match they simply overran the Germans.

Mr Tarek the new vertical neighbor in the apartment block opposite seemed to have nobody to watch it with and so he wrote his email address on his window, in case anyone wanted to come over.

He was whooping happy when the Turks made it 2:2 but a few minutes later with the last minute goal, he turned his lights off and went to bed, while the German fans drove round sounding their horns till 2:00am.  Poor guy, now he knows how it feels to support England.

So ... Spain or Russia?
Title: Euro Cup 2008
Post by: Crazy_Joe on June 26, 2008, 09:58:05 PM
Spain crushed Russia 3-0!!

I don't think anybody saw that one coming, considering Spain were so poor in their last game and Russia put on one of the best performances of the whole competition in their last match.

If the Spain of the 2nd half tonight turns up against Germany then they will win, but i can't see them winning if they play like they have most of the tournament.

I'm picking Germany to win, but on the night I'll be supporting Spain because they deserve a bit of success for once.

Post by: ilÿti on June 26, 2008, 11:13:25 PM
Seeing the tournament as a whole, I think it's fully deserved that Spain is in the final. As I said earlier, they are always one of those teams that play great in the first games, but don't get far, so I'm really glad they did this time. And they have played much better than Germany, so if there's any logic and justice in football, Spain will win. But knowing Germany and their obnoxious tendensy to have everything served at their feet, it wont happen.

Last night was the only time I wanted Germany to win. I had £50.00 on them to win as I thought it was a dead cert - I was panicking for the last few minutes!!

I really want Spain to win the final now - lots of class on show tonight.

A friend of me, son of Dutches, said that the diference of Portuguese and Spanish is quite like the diference from Dutch to German... probably someone that knows nothing in portuguese or spanish would think it's the same, as Dutch and German sound pretty the same to me
