Rory would have been 60 today.

Seconded! What impressed me about Gallagher in the day, was his absolute focus on music. He had a vision of the kind of music he wanted to make and dedicated himself to it utterly. There was no popy-ness about him, no matter how hard his life on the road became. I guess that's why he seems more popular now than at his 70s peak. That dedication to music, rather than a music career, is now near extinct.
He has a great fan site...

Isn't there a square in Temple Bar named after him? In a week when we have much to thank the Irish for, its great to see how Ireland celebrates their musical heroes. Is there Johnny Maar square in Manchester yet? Probably not.

it seems I've been hasty & it's actually the day rory died rather than the day he was born...sorry rory!

The thought was there Horsehead-the point being that Rory is revered quite rightly.

I still have the cd of Irish Tour that Carlaz sent to me for free a few years ago :) I still love it, great tone and songs. Shame it doesnt have Bad Penny on it though, that's my favourite song of his.
