Just taken amp to pieces to put in new valves, ordered JJ 6v6s power valve....but original valve is a 6V6gt
This is a single ended amp fixed bias....is there a difference between the GT and the S
-
The GT has go faster stripes
I think it's an old reference to Glass tube as some early 6V6s had metal cases, but I could be wrong on that - will wait for one of the amp guys to say for sure

*LMAO*...and also as I found today is smaller(the GT)...damn didn't look too close is actually a 6n6c
-
There's no effective difference between a GT and an S. The JJ 6V6S is slightly bigger, and is not truly a 6V6, but is in all ways compatible, and many people say it sounds better, or at least as good as the older 6V6's.
I think some Chinese valves are marked as 6N6 or 6P6 and are in fact 6V6 compatible.

yeah had to mod amp a little to get the jj to fit in case....the old one was sovtek all black glass....JJ's seem clearer more open sounding....and bonus have mended a slight iritation I had with amp while modding to fit valve.
Now far quieter

and seems louder

I've not experimented with NOS 6V6s, but of the current production 6V6s I've tried, I like the JJ ones the best, they're a bit bigger sounding than a typical 6V6 (more like a 6L6 actually, but not quite), and are tough.

that's what i thought too, but best take anything i say about technical stuff with a pinch of salt...

I have a sweet spot for 6v6s
-
yeah 2 of my 3 amps have them
-
Yeah, I really like the JJ 6V6GTS, I put one in my Fender Champ 600 about 2 months ago, they are much bigger than the stock 6V6's and I've found they sound much better and smoother, they have a very nice break up too, I found that it sounds much cleaner as well as fatter too.
