Title: New guitar (prepare sick bag)
Post by: JonnyScaramanga on June 16, 2008, 03:56:35 PM
Last time someone posted a PRS Corvette, the entire forum joined together in condemning it to hell. So now I've got one. Woop. It's not in my possession... the oh-so-subtle graphics have been added by Svee at www.SveeArt.com, and I haven't picked it up yet. I've got a set of Rebel Yells waiting for it when it arrives.

I had been wondering where that had got to, I remember you saying you were getting it done.
The less bling look is definately an improvement IMO
I seem to remember you put a 'go faster stripe' on a strat too?

Yeah, there was a guy on here who put a vinyl stripe on a blue Mustang. I just shamelessly copied him and put white racing stripes on my surf green Strat. I love the way it looks.

I wouldn't say the PRS is less bling now... it was black before! But yeah, I thought that Private Stock one with the quilted top was disgusting.

Oh, I was referring to this (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=109690996&blogID=401529810) after searching for the Feelboob clip again

Yeah, it's meant to echo the look of this car:

I think it works.

with the paintjob it looks quite better i must say. not something i'd have, but the corvete additions are not out of place anymore

Your guitar looks great Jonny. It's been done in a rather tasteful way, that suits the guitar.

I posted the thread on the last PRS Corvette and I still think it looks cr@p.

Yours doesn't though. It's a cool paintjob.

Not my taste Jonny but it is more in keeping with what it was intended for and somehow it has a quirky charm to it.

that fretboard inlay makes me want to vomit, but honestly the rest of it looks ok.  Any before and afterward pics?

I like it. but I have notoriously poor taste. I reckon my bassist's walnut Gibson "The Paul" is a handsome beast.

+1, at least the Corvette trimmings harmonise with the finish.

Got to be honest, and no offence intended, but I still don't like it.  But it's infinitely better than that ridiculous quilt one, and I bet it sounds great.

I still don't like the inlay. However I do like OTT inlays. That is just a bit more on the 'bad' side.

I think PRS suit opaque or dyes/bursts for finishes.

I'm not into cars so obviously I'm not into car-themed guitars either. A car that's finished with sunburst flame maple and rosewood would be infinitely cooler. I'd drive that.  :D
