Hello,
I'm new to bare knuckle pickups and I want to find the perfect pickups to suit my tone. Currently I'm using a les paul custom and was wondering if anyone could give me any good recommendations for some great pickups. I want a real vintage sound but something that sings while playing melodies and solo. I tend to lean on a more bright tone than a dark one and want a bridge pickup that's real articulate, that catches pick technique smoothly. I talked to Tim and he suggested either a pair mules or the rebel yell. I was looking into the Emeralds but am still indecisive. What's your guys input? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I think one thread is enough.

You sound like a perfect candidate for the Mules...The Rebel Yells would be better if you want something a little more gain on tap...I love the Rebel Yells. THey are like the best thing to come along since the original PAF (which a mule basically is)...Some need go no further than the original tried and true but if want the enhanced version try the Rebel Yells...

I was thinking the same as Jason - except I've not tried Rebel Yells
And ilyti, I think lespaulkid wants two sets really, so two threads ain't that bad
Welcome lpk, by the way!

Welcome L.P.K. :)
I own the Mules - but have only heard the rebel yells. For what you describe - I am thinking Rebel Yells. The Mules sound lovely in my own Led Paul Standard - and sing sweetly. Pure 'P.A.F.' tone with rich yet clear mids.
However, if I was wanting a more stacatto attack on the bridge pickup - and more brightness on tap, Iwould invest in the ' Rebel Yells'. They just seem more in character with what you describe.

thanks for the welcome and input guys. I think I'm gonna go with the rebel yell and maybe put a pair of mules in another les paul, depending if I have enough money. I appreciate all of the input and will definitely consult you guys again when I decide to get another bare kunckle pickup.
