Heya there I just got an email back from blade saying they do do the Rh4 classics in lefty. Just wondering has anyone had any experiance with blades in general, or own one or w/e. My teachers got one just inquiring what other people think because hes proberly biased lol :p

Only played one bad one(and that was the shops fault)keep looking at them but never quite bought one
-
cool model did you play? cause they range from £300 to like 1.5k

IMO the cheaper Blades are in line with some US Fenders I have tried. The only thing that lets me down is the pickups. Don't get me wrong - they do sound fantastic, but the squeeling at volume is horrible. I want to upgrade to BKP's but not sure which ones are quieter as dont want to jump out of the frying pan....
Go for it I say! My Blade was a back up guitar but I have been using it as numero uno recently. Very smooth neck and very playable! The top end stuff is amazing! You won't go wrong.

BKP single coils are the quietest I've ever heard. Seriously- I could crank my homebuilt big muff all the way up and it would only hum when I went near my ancient tv. My MQs don't even get affected by my laptop, something stock single coils got humped by.
The Blades i've seen have always got great reviews, not seen many in the flesh though. But a BKP will always push a nice playing guitar into a proper tone monster. I sound like i could write ads for bare knuckle now...

I think the metal covers probably play a part in that, by providing a bit of shielding.

upgraded a blade strat type thing with a BKP strat bridge recently......Huge improvement, so thats a good upgrade as well, other than that the quality of the instrument was fine. Way better than an american series fender IMHO.

i would just be a bit worried about putting new pups in cause my teacher put some SDs in an he said with the onboard electronics the originals were better and he was thinking of changing them back. But im sure with some help from tim i could get some great bareknuckles. But the rh4s are out of my pricerange at the moment anyway, so pickups wont be for atleast 2 years :D

I played some of their strat types with the mid boost and loved all of them. Great versatile guitar, lots of bite and punch and played well. But since they gave up the Fender headstock shape, I dislike the looks of them ...
-
well there strat types must be either a rh4/2 or texas, which was it?
-
i'll just echo what i said on ug about this topic, i really liked their strat and tele "copies" i tried (i tried one of each, i think, both around the £300-£400 mark, and neither was an rh4), and the active electronics which hunter mentioned were actually pretty cool, and pretty usable. I could be wrong, but i'm not sure i'd be too worried about upgrading the pickups, because you can turn off the active electronics (but obviously if they're a plus point for you, you'd want to make sure upgraded pickups worked well with those active electronics). :)
-
yeah definately. But im not buying pickups or even thinking bout them yet since I cant afford the rh4!!! But any more feedback on blades would be great

hmmm... where can i find these in the UK?

not sure how accurate that is, as i know there's a dealer in northern ireland which wasn't listed when i did a search (don't get me started on another rant about northern ireland  ), but i guess that's better than nothing. :)
