Title: New Guitar Day - Indie Dragon
Post by: Jonny on June 18, 2008, 01:42:11 PM
To add to the trend of threads of new stuff, I thought I'd post my new guitar which arrived through the post today.

I won it off eBay, for £415 inc. P&P which is around £200-300 cheaper off the price it was released at.

It's a limited edition Indie "Dragon" guitar.

Body: Mahogany
Neck: Maple
Binding: Abalone
Config: H-S-S
Controls: Volume, Tone, 5-way
Hardware: Gold
Fretboard: Rosewood w/ Abalone Dragon Inlay
Bridge: Licensed Floyd Rose

here are some photos, yes, they are OTT -BUT- I love it. Plus the open coil gold humbucker is pretty! :D

And a small update on my "RG-in-the-garage", currently spraying on clear coats! And hopefully I'll get it done by the end of this month, or next month since it needs to cure.

It's identical, isn't it (apart from the fretboard inlay which is completely different)?

How much is 5,999 DKK in £ or €?

I think it's cool! Not my thing personally, but it suits your other guitars very well.

I read the descriptions earlier and was expecting to hate it, and therefore not bother posting... (I often can't see pics at work - couldn't in this case)

But hey, that's a gorgeous looking beast!

I've seen these before and I love the inlays , but find the Gold a bit of overkill.

Now because I would be likely to upgrade the pickups to BKPs and I would want to put a better Floyd Rose on there I think I would chose to have black pickups and rings and might even change the floyd and machineheads to black as well.

Then it will look a bit more subdued apart from the pearl and abalone

Nice one Jonny  :D

I've only played a few Indie's but I've found them to be pretty good and a solid build quality.

I still have slight GAS for a black Indie 335 copy in my local store. It looks very plain but plays great and sounds very close to a 335.

Anyways, I digress ... Well done matey.

i agree with the comments about the gold... maybe a step too far but the dragon(s) does look less OTT than i expected.  i quite like the design

but still, the only dragon inlayed guitars i could really go for look like this

 no CNC dragons for me!!!

I think it's great - yes, over the top, but I think that having EVERYTHING - the inlays, the binding, the gold - actually suits the overall guitar.

Cracking.  I love Indies.

Mark.

Agreed completely. It's worth doing, it's worth OVERDOING!

That's what I had in mind. Let the hardware soak in while the abalone flashes the whole guitar.

BKPs I'm not so sure as to what I would put in. Overwound Sinner sprung to mind but I'm only thinking about it. :)
