Not so keen on the vocal harmony parts. Some bits remind me of the verses in 'Let me entertain you' by Queen.
Nuno is still a big talent
-
Heh, sounds like you don't know the song they are referencing!
-
Sounds like Tie Your Mother Down to me.
I like it :D
-
I like it, very Queen

Now playing: Peaceful Knievel - Time to burn (http://www.foxytunes.com/artist/peaceful+knievel/track/time+to+burn)

yup ahhh..not impressed..is van halen 3 all over again
-
not bad, but also not my cup of tea - would prefer something a bit edgy... some nice ideas there

I don't
What is it?

Sounds like Tie Your Mother Down to me.
That's what I thought too, wasn't sure if that's what Ben was referring to.
Yeah, it's good! Hope there's lots of stuff like that, and not too much poop like Stop The World or Tragic Comic....
-
WOW to me this is like a good version of Queen :D
-
Think must be the only one..but sounds dated and leaves me cold..but then not a huge queen fan

I dont like queen whatsoever but i find this quite cool
-
I like the riffage when it kicks in but other than that it's not amazing.

Aside from the obvious Queen-ness of the whole thing, I was referring to an old Tin Pan Alley/Vaudeville song with an identical hook called ... You're A Star. PDT_008 When I heard the opening chorus, I smiled -- Extreme is great at doing stuff like this, and unless you are music-saavy, you will miss a lot of the allusions in their songs, not unlike Queen (whom they have always imitated).
I think that the song is great; it's certainly head and shoulders above any of the new singles appearing on Rock Band, the radio, or my son's iPod over the past year. (My Chemical Romance notwithstanding)
A lot of metallers disliked the slower stuff on III. I don't mind it. I certainly think Stop the World (Another Broadway/Tin Pan Alley reference, by the way) is a much better-constructed song than Rock A Bye Bye.

It sounds like the 80s.
-
^ i know, it's awesome isn't it?!
that kicks ass, TO, thanks for posting it.

Interesting stuff, Ben, I'm not familiar with the Tin Pan Alley/Vaudeville songs you mentioned... maybe they're not so well known this side of the pond? (or maybe I'm just an idiot...)
I know I'm repeating myself, but I never liked the more lightweight/theatrical side of Extreme's sound. Queen always managed to pull off the campery in glorious fashion, but with Extreme I just find it twee and irritating. Maybe because Freddie Mercury had so much personality and charisma but Gary Cherone... doesn't. :|
And as for straightforward pop material, I think Nuno has done it better in his more recent projects than he ever did with Extreme.
-
I always liked Extreme more when they wrote songs about girls
-
Er thought it was about sexual acts *L*
-
you & your mucky mind!  They're clean living boys dont'cha know

This is awesome bar none. I love Nuno (in a straight, hetro, man way UGH UGH Beer, muscle cars, cough   )
And this sounds like a return to form.
Great stuff.
-
Another new song is straming here (http://"http://artists.ultimate-guitar.com/extreme/")
-
love the riffage, tone and clear as a bell production of the song. album should be equaly great. solos are going to be awesome. gotta love nunos phrasing.
i really do not like the chorus though. it sounds like it's been nicked from a bad broadway show...
-
My copy of the album arrived this morning.
Really good stuff so far (I'm only up to track 3 so far). :)
-
Album was released in the UK ahead of the US. Can't wait till it's released here!!
