Title: Carvin 400DC
Post by: lifted on June 29, 2008, 03:28:34 AM
Hey, anyone own a Carvin 400dc or the like?  My friend's is Koa back with walnut top body   with a maple neck and fret board,  The pickups are real trebly and don't have much sustain for such a slab of wood.  Any one have suggestions for classic rock   sounds?  Or anyone have a BK'ed Carvin?  It definitely needs some warmth

I had a DC135 but sold it recently to 'stevepage' on the forum... When i asked about changing the pickups for a more agressive, clearer sound they recommended a Nailbomb in the bridge...which makes sense looking at the woods...

Classic rock sound + adding warmth? Crawlers.

The lower output range would probably sound really good too, but if there's too much top end for your taste, they wont help you get rid of that. I had the problem of a bright sounding LP and I thought I wanted Emeralds or Mules, but Tim recommended Crawlers to add warmth and it really worked.
