Check out this lineup!
Forget Download, Reading, Glastonbury and even Sweden Rock
This is the stuff we need!
-
Yeeeeessss, there are some of my favourite bands on there! :D
But....
.... about half of the lineup (naming no names) would make me vomit and/or cringe with embarrassment.
And there are quite a few I'd love to have seen 15-20 years ago but I suspect would fall into the latter category now. :(
-
oh man... excellent!
-
I wouldn't be so fussed about Monday's lineup, but Friday and Saturday are pretty damn good.
-
Yeah, I could live without the Monday. And the Sunday, apart from Black 'N Blue and maybe Yngwie.
It's all a bit incestuous, with Jaime St James having been in Black 'N Blue and Warrant, George Lynch in Dokken and Lynch Mob, Barry Sparks in Dokken and Yngwie's band, Keri Kelli in... half the bands on the bill!

I'd love to see Y&T.
Oh god Pretty Boy Floyd are there.
-
Ratt, enuff znuff, alice cooper classic

YES! Cheers, I'm definitely going the Liverpool one, even if the venue is awful.
I just left Dave Meni' a comment on his youtube, might recommend him some BKP's :P

Yeah - Riff Raffs may be the closest to what he had on his old 70s LP.
I would suggest a mule in the bridge and a riff raff in the neck.
Tried an LP recently with a pair of Riff raffs and it sounded perfect for stuff like "forever" or "from the moon"

That's interesting - I've only had the Riff Raff bridge in an SG, never tried the neck model or heard them in an LP. I thought they might be too bright.
Meniketti's solos on the Black Tiger and Mean Streak albums have some of my favourite guitar tones ever.

Mehffles...'tis in Texas. I ain't gettin' on no plane, foo'.
Ah well, one day England will get a good line-up somewhere....hopefully.
The last festival I even bothered with was Ozzfest '98 in Milton Keynes. Now THAT was a line-up, heh. :D

What was the MK line up then?
Are you near there yourself?

Meneketti plays a LOT with both pickups on
With the Riff Raffs you can do that and sound really good
I found that I did want a bit more midrange personally on the bridge pickup alone
With the Riff Raff in the neck you do lose just a bit of that Gary Moore fullness but you can play chords on the neck without it sounding too wooly with distortion on
-

ah, come on, warrant are great!
the biggest problem is, if i were in the area of course, that there's a couple of excellent bands on each day, coupled with some others that you wouldn't mind seeing if you were there. I guess that's the plan though, to make you pay for every day...
-

I actually, hand on heart and not a word of a joke, think "Cherry Pie" is one of the finest pop-metal songs ever written. It's brilliant.
But most of their stuff is awful.
And I'm not sure what state Jani is in (this week), but I suspect they're not the greatest live spectacle nowadays.

Interesting! Although I do actually like a woolly neck pickup, and I agree that the RR bridge could sometimes do with a bit more mids (although I like it very much in my SG). So maybe no RR set for me.

There are only 5 bands there that I haven't seen - mainly because they haven't ever been to the UK
But there are so many of my fave bands playing over a weekend that I wish I could go
-
Damn that's quite a line-up. Personally I care the least for Saturday. Great White and Brittny Fox would be cool, otherwise meh. Sunday is definitely the bomb. Alice, Yngwie, Warrant and Slaughter in one day... that just sounds too good to be true.

uncle tom's cabin and mr rainmaker are their best songs, in my opinion.

^ Agreed. Cherry Pie is a crazy good album

Nah I'm in the west, had to travel up in my mate's very sketchy vintage ford Escort. Just glad I made it there, lol! The lineup was awesome, I saw all my fave bands bar one in the same day:
Fear Factory, Slayer, Pantera, Coal Chamber, Pitchshifter, Hed(PE), Human Waste Project (whatever happened to them, they were ace!), Soulfly (who got all the other band's drummers and other muso's out on stage to do en-mass percussion for Rattamahatta!), Ozzy Osbourne AND Black Sabbath (Ozzy must have been fookin' knackered, he played a full set with Ozzy Osbourne, rested for a bit and then closed with Sabbath for another full set! Bill Ward couldn't drum cos he'd literally just recovered from a heart attack so Puffy filled in)), Foo Fighters (who played a much heavier set than usual) and Therapy (who replaced Korn at the last minute cos one of Korn's wives went into labour at the last minute).
I forget who else was there but it was the most amazing day of my life and I still can't think of anything that tops it even 10 years later. Apart from the day my (now) fiancee said Yes but that's a different thing really, hehe.

that's a pretty sweet lineup. you guys should've seen this years metal camp :D
