ive heard a few mixed reports. anyone on here had any dealings with them?
-
Yeah bought my palmer di box from them, quick and efficient
-
I bought a flight case and some other random bits, like blanking plates, patch leads etc. No issues, arrived safely and reasonably quickly from what i remember ( it was a couple of years ago now).
-
I bought a Les Paul Deluxe off them. No problems at all (Except there was only one guitar, and they didnt hold it for me while I cleared their credit card fraud protection which I thought was bad!) Good customer service though!
-
Got a flight case from them.....arrived quickly...well protected and undamaged.....all in price delivered to my door was 70% of what I'd have paid locally.....I'd use them again.
-
Used them several times - love 'em.
-
I've used them quite a few times, very impressed with the service - speed, efficiency and quality of packaging.
The only thing I'd be slightly cautious about is ordering something that's out of stock. If an item says "available at short notice (usually 2-5 days)" it may take a lot longer. Like weeks longer. But it will arrive eventually.
But if an item says "in stock" it really is in stock, and you'll have it in no time. :)

Hey, I've ordered stuff from GAK that was listed as in stock and it was back ordered for several weeks
I've used Thomann several times for stands, parts, effects etc and I've never had a problem, indeed far better than some UK based sites.
-
I have had issues with GAK stock too, but what little I have ordered from Thomann, has been very efficient
-
Thomann for life.
Incredible prices. Practically instant delivery. Awesome service - And awesome stock.
-
thanks guys. i had the same issues with GAK. i bought my fender champion 600 from thomann and when i arrived the box looked like it had been opened and re-sealed. it was quite roughed up although the amp was fine. the guitar i want is £30 cheaper than GAK too which i found most impressive. I may well take the plunge again :D

Thomann are "local" for me. I've been a regular (weekly) customer for around 5 years. In that time I've had one "issue" with them. When I complained by email to the boss, I got my replacement. I've sent several other things back because I didn't like them and always got a no questions refund.
Bearing in mind that this is a German company, where customer complaints are usually settled with bare knuckle blows, I find that quite OK.
I guess though, with the current value of the Breeteesh Quids and US Dollar against the Euro the prices aren't that attractive.

+1
I bought my Engl Savage from them, along with tons of mics, stands, headphones & other bits & pieces. Excellent service, everything arrived quickly.
With the current £:euro value, they're not automatically cheaper than any/every local store for everything, but there are still bargains to be had on some things & the fact that their site indicates whether they've actually got the item you want makes them a safe bet to buy from...
-
I haven't but a friend bought an Engl from them. The amp arrived really quickly but there was a wait on the seperate midi footswitch that rendered the amp fairly difficult to use.
I think that this mirrors other peoples' in stock vs out of stock experiences! If they've got an item in then you'll get it very quickly.
FWIW I've used GAK once. Bought a bass, very quick service but found that they'd sent the 5 string rather then 4 string version. I still haven't told them... *ahem*
-
Their site has great shopping functionality and they have a really good service. Not always the cheapest, but always helpful. I had a repair of a 2 year old SM57 once for free - actually was only able to do that retour because they keep all your invoice papers as PDF in your customer account. So offering 3 years warranty AND helping to use it, that is really what customer service is about.
P.S. I probably spent 1000s of EUR with them, so anyway the little repair won't hurt them but make me an even more loyal customer.

Haha! Serves them right for making the mistake in the first place.

I ordered some parts n' stuff. Quick delivery and great prices.
The band got a PA system from Thomann. It was flawed (pre-amp problem), we returned it and got a new one back within a week.
-
Yes, last year I ordered a Harley Benton Valve combo off them. When it arrived it didnt work. They sent a courier to pick it up and take it away again, and refunded my money within a week. Great service.
-
i ordered some guitar stands and various things like plectrums, slides etc. No complaints here, but i haven't ordered anything big like a guitar or amp.
also, the pound is falling against the euro so it's not as good value as it was...

yeah, it's always worth checking local prices- some prices for certain brands are MUCH cheaper than in the UK (e.g. ESP/LTD, Peavey etc.), but for other brands, they're the same if not a lot more expensive (e.g. Marshall, Laney). I don't buy the philosophy that they're cheaper for everything, because they clearly aren't. And, as I already said, the stuff they are cheaper on is getting more and more expensive because of exchange rates. :)
-
Brought a lot of my bands studio gear last year from them...real quick delivery, faster than some UK shops!!
No real issues other than the plugs on the gear was European!
Would definitely buy from again!

I bought a lot of stuff from Thomann.Never had any problem but i always use the "pay at delivery" when it's possible .Long time ago,i got some MBEL34's and one had a broken socket,i phoned them and he told me i could send them a pic of it :) and they gave me another pair for free 8)Nice!But a few years ago, they were A LOT cheaper! They are no longer the cheapest....Too bad...
-
I generally get most things from my local store wich is Sounds Great but I did order an amp from Thomann once. I payed over the internet and they emailed me quickly to tell me it was not in stock (which I knew) and that they could offer me a different amp or they could give me a refund until the amp came in. Not many companies voulunteer money back like that.
It does make me laugh when I see there adverts though, everything looks cheap except the Tiny Terror which is about £80 above RRP. Why would they advertise that in a Brittish mag??
-
I bought my Mesa Roadster cab from them - best price, item was in stock, and there was no extra delivery charge, which was pretty handy for something that weighs 20-odd kilos! Found them very efficient , no complaints.
