Title: HT Dual and Stormy Mondays
Post by: tomjackson on July 10, 2008, 03:27:38 PM
A short srappy clip I recorded last night just to try out the recording out of the HT Dual. I have to keep levels low at night so wanted to see if the recording out would be sound good enough for my recordings.

The verdict - I'll wait until weekends until I can mic up!!

Well it's not bad, would be okay for overdubs but for the main tracks it would have to be run through an amp.

I've heard lots worse sounds from miked up amps than that.
The HT-Dual is a great pedal with plenty of band for buck.

The trouble with the emulated out is the lack of treble/sparkle/clarity.  In fact, I have that issue with the whole pedal now.  Odd, as I used to love it.

Great playing though Tom - very Billy Gibbons!

Great playing and not a bad tone at all for a pedal!

It does sound a bit dull but as phlip said its not the worst recorded sound I've heard on this forum! Can you compensate for the lack of clarity on the direct out with more treble/less bass on the pedal?

Like it! I do fancy a stormy...

is this an original composition? Very interesting style! It sounds great.

yes original, I just made it up for the purposes of the clip...

I could add more top end but there was already a lot of hiss through the headphones, and it sounded a lot toppier through them anyway.  There only cheap headphones though so probably add there own nasty thing.  Now I can't use my Tapco monitors so much I should really invest in a decent set of phones.....

The HT Dual sounds a lot better in person and it's still okay through the direct out.  And as Philip says you can get a lot worse sounds from miking an amp up.

I like the Dual but when I bought it I AB'd it with an exotic BB plus and I prefered the BB, it added less of it's own sound and had more presence and cut.  I just couldn't justify spending £200 on distortion box.  The Dual sounds great and is really versatile but  it isn't the last word in overdrive/distortion.

I thought it sounded good, you just need to back down the rythm track and up the lead a whole lot.
