Hey there!
Ok, heres what I wrote to Tim and the BKP team!
I thought you guys might have a comment, or give me some advice.
Hi!
It's been a while since I heard from you guys! I hope you're doing great as usual :D
I have a question.
Remember when you made a custom Cold Sweat neck for me? I wanted kinda warmer tone, so now my CS really sounds pretty warm. However, as the time passed by my taste kinda changed, I realized that I actually miss that razor sharp neck tone, and that I just cant pull out enough from this one.
So, I was thinking of a rewind!
So basicaly, heres what I want from a neck pickup
- I want it to have enough output, so I can have a very modern and a very heavy neck sound (don't spare on this, has to be heavy as hell)
- I want those notes to scream, to stand out, and be bright (I find this one kinda muddy now)
- I want tone to be strong and sustaining. So, I don't want to have to "push" those notes out.
With this one I have the feeling like I'm struggling to pull those notes out, and I always kinda intuitively switched to my NAILBOMB bridge, cos it seems a LOT easier to get those notes out.
I hope you get the idea!
So, is a rewind my only option and how much would it cost me? Would it still be a COLD SWEAT or something else?
Thanks!
BTW I just figured out that it might be that I prefer more COMPRESSED tone. Could this be it?? Cos I totaly like my Nailbomb (bridge), and already being alnico 8, its pretty damn compressed.
It's kinda like I have the feeling that the tone isn't heavy enough, like it becomes kinda quieter after I pick the note, and this is a compression thing right?
Help me out here :)

Paikiller neck will do exactly what you require.

Thanks mate :)
Well, care to explain why do you think that?

Its higher output, very sharp, but not brittle at all (something ceramic necks often suffer from), absolutely screams, and its more compressed. Its cleans are still satisfactory bell-like, but not as warm.
I know this because I just swapped a cold sweat for a painkiller yesterday in my main guitar!

Oh niiceee!! How about some clips??? :D

It wont do you much good for comparison. The CS is going in a very different guitar (in about as soon as I can be bothered firing up the soldering iron!). Basswood/maple/rosewood FB 24.75 scale explorer Vs http://www.legraguitars.co.uk/mdv602.htm

Hmm or maybe get a good compressor? Or, if you haven't considered it already, get an overdrive pedal to go in front of your distorted amp. Or get the sharper sounds by using both pickups? I'd be careful not to assign every problem to the pickup.

Iltyl speaks the truth.
You would also get what you want with on OD or compressor.
