I'm looking at entering the murky waters of Delay pedals. Never had one before so just at the research stage.
What should I be auditioning folks? Is "delay" the same as "echo" or are they completely different effects?
I'm reading good things about the MXR Carbon Copy. Anyone here got one? Before anyone suggests Eventide........ out of my price range I'm afraid
Current set up is a Les Paul with Mules into pedal board with overdrive, distortion, reverb and boost pedals. A delay will complete the set I think. My amp has no effects loop.
Where is best position for delay on the pedal board?

Look at the pro guitar shop dot com on You tube.
They have excellent video of a huge range of delay pedals.
All the main manufacturers, plus yesterday they started adding comparison videos. One of which has the Carbon copy versus other delays. They are really useful.

Check out the Hardwire Delay/Looper or the Boss DD7, if you're not set on an analogue delay, and you want some more versatility

I've got a Carbon Copy. They're excellent delay pedals, and they've got up to 600m/s delay time, which is great for a true analog delay pedal of that size. As Gizmo said, there's good video's on youtube. As for placement in the signal chain, I find delay's work best at the end.
