If you like mini humbuckers we're making 'mini' Mules now-Alnico IV and offset 42 AWG plain enamel wire coils.
Original mini humbuckers were mostly machine wound with poly wire but I find that plain enamel wire and scatterwinding really opens these babies out. 8)

Those look awesome!

they sound even better 8)

What would be the apllication of this pup, Tim?
I know it won't fit into a Strat ...
-
Mini humbuckers typically were fitted to old Epiphones and then LP Deluxes but if a guitar has a P90 slot then a mini humbucker will fit.
They're amazing sounding pickups, bright and tight-not over powerful but really clear.
-
are these suitable for the old-school Firebirds?
-
I'll have to check the dimensions but I don't see why not. All the Firebird minis I've rewound have been the same size, they just mount differently.

cool. many moons ago i bought an Epi Firebird-not the greatest guitar it must be said, but i did like the tones you could get out of mini-humbuckers. i could do with keeping it as a backup guitar, so maybe one day ill get a pair of these. they do look mighty fine! i just need to get my other guitar sorted first

The pair in the pic have gone to a customer in Spain with a Mc Naught guitar so it'll be interesting to see how he gets on-they're replacing Rio Grande pickups which he found lifeless and dull.

I know the guy in The Music uses an LP deluxe with minibuckers, and I've seen Noel Gallagher and Pete Townsend use them before too, and they all have a top sound.

Isn't that ALL of the Rio Grande pups? Those things suck moose wang! LOL

Tim,
I want one to go with the H/B sized P-90 and Slow Hand :P Then I know which guitar I will bring to London!

Nice work Tim!
I considered asking you about miniHB's as both my Epi Elite Riviera's have them (USA built ones from Gibson). However replacing them is not on the top of my priorities as the sound as is is very usable already. I am a big fan of miniHB's, they seem to suit my style much better than regular sized HB's.
Am I right to assume that the output of the miniMules is on a par with the Mule? The output of my current miniHB's is about 6,8k so these might give a nice extra sting... And, purely out of interest, why did you opt for Alnico IV?

Martijn
