Hey dudes,
Now that I've got a decent computer, I've actually made a video I'm proud of.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=yTwTZWURkUQ
It's one of my very favourite solos, done by Martin Goulding, guesting on The Safety Fire's track "Groove in A".
I was hoping to be able to adjust the levels so that my guitar was more audible, but I couldn't find how to do it in iMovie. If someone would be kind enough to tell me, that would be awesome!
It's really tricky to play, and you can hear a bit of extraneous string noise in parts, but I didn't chicken out and use a string dampener haha.
Hope you enjoy it!
Also, be sure to check out my band's myspace at www.myspace.com/redseasfire

You scare the shite out of me mate.
-
I like the PGM Ibanez in the background.
I always prefer to see people play rather than hear a clip.
Pretty good technique as well
-
Cheers guys, means alot!
-
Sick, sick sick!
Love it!

Damn that looks hard to play!
-
I don't really "understand" it, but mighty impressive!
(That's not meant to sound negative, just not my kind of music :) )
-
That looks crazy!
Awesome playing. :D
-
Geez, very impressive. I got confused just watching it. I am just a little blues player.
-
jeez, that's some kickass playing! :)
-
Awesome playing :) I wish I could do things like that but I'm limited to pentatonics with a few extra notes added in
Guitar looks great as well and the tone sounds good for that style - more clips!
-
Did you read 'Play In A Day' by Bert Weedon?
-
Well played! Not really my style either but I like it. I like your "Protest the Hero" video better, maily because it's longer and it seems I don't give a rat's arse about sound quality.
-
How has Dez NOT commented on this yet?
Awesome clip bro. I predict big things for The Safety Fire, there aren't many bands around in the UK that can top them as far as I'm concerned. I think they're better than Sikth, Dez's riffs are awesomeness incarnate.
Keep an eye on those fellas.
-
He has, on the HC forum. But yes, The Safety Fire should do very well if there is justice in this world. Dez's songwriting is converging to genius, the finished Huge Hammers is incredible
-
Oh btw Nolly check your myspace, heh.
-
Erm.. which one? I can never remember the login details for the RSF one..
-
The RSF, hehe. It's cool someone replied. :D

Just managed to get into the myspace. Interested to see what you can come up with :)

You knows it. Incredible.

My favorite bit of yours is still the first 10 seconds of the Bloodmeat video. Quicky fast scale run followed by whoa crazy tapping, and you make it look incredibly easy. easier than usual, even.
-
Thanks man, I really hate that video though, I've considered taking it off..
I've had loads of people me asking what I play at the beginning, so I'd tabbed it out:

The tapping bit's not really crazy at all!
-
Not crazy hard, but crazy sounding. :)
When are you going to make a video of a Red Seas Fire song?
-
Yeah it's quite neat sounding, kinda part dimished part augmented (correct me if I'm wrong). You can actually carry it on going across all 6 strings. If you mix it up and skip strings here and there it can sound really cool. Quite Beneath the Massacre-y.
I will prob make a video of a RSF song at some point, but firstly we need to write them.. Things have been going slow as of late due to us being a bit spread out and trying to work as much as possible to afford gear. Come september, when Pete and I start at BIMM, I'm sure stuff will pick up considerably.

I don't hear anything diminished in it that tapping part, it's all augmented. Sounds neat.

Yeah you're right. It's just the way that the pattern is symmetrical on guitar makes it feel like a dimished type thing.
