I remember reading on here (a good few months ago now) that the good folks a BKP were beginning to make their own vintage strat trems.
Has any body got one? I’m in dire need of a new trem, as the one on my strat is well on it way to bridge heaven.
If you are the owner of one of these fine products, what are they like? What are the features? How would they compare to say a Callaham?
Thanks

I have one, they are an exact replica of the original Fender trems, with steel block and bent steel saddles. I think there are 2 options for the saddles, one is with no stamping and the other is to have 'BKP' stamped in them. I haven't seen a Callaham in the flesh so I can't tell you how they compare, other than to say that the BK's are very good.

Thanks Philking. I've sent Tim an email asking for more info. Hopefully I’ll soon join the BKP bridge elite. 8)

I have one in stock...haven't had a chance to try it on a guitar yet

What do they say? Pics or it doesn't exist!

It's something that I need to get as well, but I've been holding off on it. Does anyone know a rough price for one as well?

Price is about £120

I've sold 2 of these, of which the other one I installed.
It went into a Blade Strat type thingy.......the improvement was very impressive, way more depth to the tone,
which was most noticeable in the bridge pickup sound, the sound was a lot deeper and fuller, very nice I have to say.
And the thing comes with allen keys now too so its alot more complete now than 2 months ago.
Both the customers were VERY happy!

Maybe this is a question for Tim and the BKP boys, but I'm assuming these bridges are handmade by BKP themselves. If this is the case are there any custom options?
In particular how about Gibson string spacing? DiMarzio used to make one and they get snapped up very quickly on ebay, I think it's a niche market but one that definitely exists.

Thats a good idea - especially as some strats end up with narrow necks and the strings are dangerously close to the edge of the fretboard

I know we're talking about BKP trems specifically, but some manufacturers already make vintage style trems with narrower spacing. Gotoh do, I think, and the newer Fender Highway One Strats have narrow spacing.
What I'm not sure about is if the mounting screws are still vintage-spaced, or the same spacing as the saddles.

I've screwed an American Vintage reissue tremolo straight into a Highway 1 before. :)

Was that an old H1 (small headstock) or a new one (big headstock)? It would be good if the mounting screw spacing was completely standardised (I'm thinking about building a new Strat with an H1 neck and body, but I'd rather use a vintage-spaced trem unit).

I think it was a new big headstock one, but I can't be sure!

are these going to go on sale in the online shop?

No worries, if I can get a body cheap enough I'll probably buy it anyway and worry about getting a bridge afterwards. :)

Japanese and Mexican fender bridges have narrower spacing as they are metric rather than imperial. I think it's something like this; USA Fender is about 11.3mm string pitch, Jap/Mex is 10.8mm and Gibson about 10.4mm.
