Just one week to the day after ordering :D :D my MULES have arrived, thanks to Tim and the team for the brilliant service, I now have to wait to saturday to find the time to fit them! I'm looking forward to hearing my Berlin with the BKPs, I will let you all know my views.

Excellent- lets hope the days goes quick for you.

You can admire the box, and then take the lid off for a bit, gaze at the pickups, and then put it back on, and then...
That's what I end up doing in the same situation :D
Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Yes! Andy I have done that. I'm looking forward to comparing the Mules with my other SD fitted Berlins, I'm sure they will be great, I have been quite happy with the Seth Lovers! I have been thinking about the change on this Berlin for a while now, the Mules are more expensive and I do have a vast supply of SDs, if these are as good as I read on this forum I will be more than happy :D

can I ask which berlin you have as I have a Pro22 and although I'm 95% sure that Mules are the right thing for me, I still worry about how bright my Berlin sounds.
-
It is a Berlin plus hard tail 24, it is a 94 mdl I have tried a few pups on it ( as it is unoriginal) I find that it is not a lot brighter than my LP, and being a plus means it has a tone control unlike the Pro! I will wire them in humbucking mode only as I'm not that keen on coil splitting, I have guitars with single coils for that. What sort of amp do you use?
-
Heh, mines a pro from 97 and it has a tone control (& 5 position strat style switch) and as usual for an Eggle it's not quite a standard build (wierd bridge on it too)
I think my Berlin is just a bright one TBH (which the maple neck contributes to), I know the Armstrong pickups are known for being 'toppy' but I'm just worrying a bit.
Ampwise it's a Fender Blues Jr & a ZVex Nano head, and I have a Rickenbacker to cover any bright tones that I want

I have not had any experience with Armstrongs in a Berlin, however my New York had them! and I found them to be very brittle and well, not good at all! I know the difference that SDs made to it,so, the BKPs should transform your Berlin into what it deserves to be. I will let you know how mine sounds, I don't use any digital grease on my sounds I like to hear the guitar not all those sound modifiers!

Yeah I have just been unsure how much the Armstrongs contributed to the brittleness (had to dial out almost all the treble to be happy on the Blues Jr)
I think the mules will indeed be the technical fix, now if only my playing could match up to my equipment and aspirations

It's friday and it has got the better of me! the Mules are instaled and after an hour of playing through my trusty Marshall TSL comparing it to my Seth Lover equipted Berlin, I can say that you are all 100% correct, these pups are amazing! I wont go on and on about it as it has been said a million times, just to say it's all true, Kilby! get yourself some Mules! :D :D :D :D
