Hey everyone, I'm currently running an older Ibanez 2120XAV Prestige through an older Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifer (two channel) with a Seymour Duncan Full Shred in my neck, and my bridge is stock. I have heard a lot about BKP's and it seems that is going to be the way to go. Right now it is a toss up between the Painkillers, Warpigs, and Nailbombs.
In my bridge position I am looking for something that has a PLENTY of mids and is very tight in the low end, I would be using it for metal obviously and am looking for that certain special djent if you will.
In the neck, I'm looking for something VERY flexible, the clean needs to be able to get very dark for Jazz, but also needs to be able to be very clear and shimmering, while maintaining a solid lead tone for higher distortion environments.
Here is my rig...

Mids and tight sounds like tha painkillaaaaa to me, and I think the neck sounds like either Cold sweat or Nailbomb.

Nice and easy one.

Haha thanks a bunch guys, it looks like a Painkiller in my bridge with a Nailbomb in my neck.
Cheers!

No, no, I was seconding the cold sweat neck.
Nailbomb will also do, but I prefer the CS personally. Bell cleans, enough push for metal lead, rich and warm enough for blues, splits very well.

Ah, I see. I'm just drawn to the Nailbombs a bit, I really like SikTh, and would be using it for similar shades of music.

Cold sweat is pretty much considered THE neck pickup when it comes to "shimmering", its exactly how MDV described, very rich, very liquidy.

I'd say a set of Nailbombs would be better suited to your rig, the Painkillers are really strong and track really fast but they lack the organic mids of Alnico V.
The Cold Sweat neck is always a good choice but I'd expect the Nailbomb neck again would be better suited to the Mesa Recto and Mahogany.
atleast thats the way I hear it and I've played all those pickups and my fair share of Mesa Rectos.
