Title: Changing Job
Post by: MrBump on July 23, 2008, 09:35:26 AM
I handed my notice in a couple of weeks ago, have about 5 weeks of my notice period remaining.

I'm SO bored now!  On the plus side, I get to trawl guitar sites all day, but it's driving me MAD.  And it's likely that this boredom will manifest itself in buying more guitar-stuff, thus upsetting Mrs Bump...

Hate wishing my time away, but this is so dull...

Try being off from Uni for the best part of 5 MONTHS. I've never been so bored in my life.

Yeah, that's kinda what I'm doing - although buying rather than anything creative.  I've decided that I need to treat myself to a new guitar (my wife is currently unaware of this decision...), but I'm agonising over what to buy...

It was a bit of an epic, and something to be remembered for!

But no, I had relics on my mind because I'm planning a relic project myself.  :)

Haha sorry didnt mean to be rude :P
I'm relicing my Edwards slowly just trying to play and getting frustrated with not being able to. I hate that I STILL suck at guitar - I haven't improved at all since about a year after I started playing.

On the same lines. My lay off from the Water Industry has been met by being taken up by a pretty similar post in the Beer industry. I am rather happy about this.

Try learning some techniques that you don't yet know, my old teacher used to always say get yourself out of your comfort zone!

What about dedicating a decent amount of time to playing-If I had that kind of time available I'd be working on my playing and/or songwriting and recording. I have the opposite problem! After I had my surgery last year, when I was starting to feel ok, I was playing for hours and learned so much.

ooh i remember playing a helicopter game where you had to avoid crashing back when i was at uni. I got a ridiculously high score and annihilated everyone in the faculty. I'm not sure if that's something to be proud of or not... was very addictive.

Well if you lot weren't so bloody useless...

I've actually been playing a lot lately, but I really miss my amp - taking it for a service next week for new valves.

I'm not actually bored being back home for summer.. I do more in the day here than I did there and my lifestyle has had a major overhaul since I got back since I'm exercising way more.. I almost dont want to go back because I think I'll put on all the weight I've lost when I get there :(

Wouldn't worry about that, I don't think i learnt anything in my first year of guitar playing expect how to make noise.

In the summer vacations at uni I got myself a job and spent my hard-earned cash on a decent gaming computer, and an engagement ring (one each summer that was).

Just a thought ;)

:P Believe me I've been trying to find a dayjob, but nobody seems to be hiring atm - stupid economy (and those that are hiring don't reply to my applications) :x All I've got is my evening job, which is the only time of the day that I'm actually never bored because my girlfriend's home from work.

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself today - I'm a bit ropey after my bike crash the other day which has left me aching all over, my amp's still out of order, my girlfriend's at work as usual, and I'm struggling to find things to do even though it's my birthday.

I know I know - pull yourself together man!

Took me about 2 months to find a summer job  I was in a factory for 2 days and hated it so quit and got the pay for those days cash in hand. Now working nights at tesco which is much more enjoyable. Better pay, conditions and people! Its good because it leaves the day free to do stuff like cycle and play guitar plus I dont have to get up early.

Happy Birthday indy :D
