Which BKP's are closest to Burstbucker 1 and 2's? You see I want PAF tone but in BKP form. I've noticed the Mules but any other suggestions? Or are the Mules the answer for me>?

Yup, Mules are the way to go for PAF tone and are roughly the same out put as a BB1 (neck) and BB2 (bridge)
-
Mules are definitely it. I have had both. The Mules have about the same output, but loads more clarity and TONE!

I am now on my 3rd Les Paul and on each purchase I have swapped the stock Burstbuckers out for BKP Mules. Believe me.......... it's the best £200 upgrade you can do to a Les Paul.
Burstbuckers are OK but they're engineered to a price and not a tone/quality IMHO.
Go for it - Mules are the way to go for vintage PAF tone.

yes..I found the BB's to be a little brittle/almost ice-picky in the highs...sort of "fell apart" under extreme conditions...(of course, amps have a lot to do with that-my Boogie Mark amps love BK's....they despise BB's!)

If you like the overall brightness of the BBs but want more tone with it, VHIIs are a great match for a les paul IMO.

I have just changed my Berlin's pups to Mules (previously SD Seth Lovers fitted) and the difference is amazing, as they all say! you can't go wrong with the Mules.

If you want less highs and a smoother tone, the Stormy Mondays may suit you too. Depends how you like your PAF, sir!
