Title: Rue de Douai, Paris
Post by: gwEm on August 11, 2008, 09:01:51 AM
was in paris oover the weekend, and wanted to check out some guitar shops. i saw that the bkp dealer in paris is based on the 'rue de douai'. so taking this as a grid reference i went down there.

the result: lots of really high quality guitar shops! not quite on the same scale as the music shop area in tokyo, but quite a good deal better than similar areas in other cities. there was some really good vintage stuff, especially fender stuff. there was a few Vs, but nothing i was very taken with. tried a 1960s duo-sonic, which i liked alot - even though i couldn't get used to the scale length. i liked the sound of it though - obviously it was rather pricey! there was some cool jap copy stuff too. a couple of shops specialised in effects only. due to the bad pound<->euro exchange rate, it didn't really make sense to buy anything. but if anyone is planning to visit the city the area is great guitar tourism.

edit: after checking out guitar shops i went to a pumping hardcore techno night until the next morning! rar!

Good find! It's great finding a street right up your street in a faraway place.
