Title: Dean Shredder Search Contest - Bare Knukle Nailbombs
Post by: Joe Kataldo on August 16, 2008, 08:09:11 PM: Hi Guys, I've submitted a video for the Dean Shredder Search Contest, this is my first contest.

In general I don't like competition in music but I thought this was fun!

Post by: gwEm on August 16, 2008, 08:40:07 PM: tastefully done! i watched the other videos, and you've really defined tone compared to alot of the other entries, plus more musical. i gave you an '11', but i think you should make more RAWK faces ;)

Post by: badgermark on August 17, 2008, 10:41:35 PM: Really good tone, was the riffing at the start done on the neck pickup? so clear yet chunky. The other videos are just done by stereotypical shredders- long haired virgins with pointy guitars in their bedrooms.

Think i should submit a video? I can't shred and I'd use my telecaster...

I loved the hammer ons - not blisteringly fast, but used to get a different voicing than you would with a pick.

Really good, intelligent playing. Top bloke.

Completely agree Philly - much prefer this to most of the million notes per second stuff. Good tone too - I find a lot of mega fast shredding sounds like the old electronic space invaders games.

That guy's good too, his playing reminds me a lot of of Greg Howe.

Edit: Haha, he sounds like Greg Howe because he's playing a Howe tune. Doh.

Most of the stuff submitted there was total trash w**kery that had no emotional or musical value whatsoever, and furthermore, was totally forgettable. Yours, on the other hand, was very beautifully done. Great job!

With the "hot" were you talking playing or something else? Either way, I'm not seeing it. :?
