Alright guys,
I've been looking for a second hand acoustic recently and I'm after a bit of advice. I've got about £100 to spend (I drunkenly sold my Applause acoustic last night for £50) and it's my birthday soon so I'll get wifey to part with some of her cash.
I'm not fussed about any electro-acoustics as it's just paying for something that I'm not going to use (although I'm not ruing them out).
Make doesn't bother me as long as it's well built and most importantly SOUNDS GOOD.

I believe the Tanglewood acoustics are very good at that sort of price point?
-
I've got a Tanglewood & I've gotta say that for the price it's amazing!
-
I got a Crafter D6 ages ago and I still like it, sounds nice (with new strings on) and plays quite nicely as well.
-
My only experience is with Simon and Patrick - I've had a quick look online, and there seem to be some on Ebay for around £200... alright, double your budget, but the quality of these guitars is definitely up a level...
Mark.

Yhe Crafters are pretty good value. Also look at the Wasburn D10 though it might be out of your budget.

Ha ha, got a new guitar (or rather told them to put it on one side and I'll pay for it on Friday). It's a Tanglewood TW12NS Special Edition. I've played a coupe of Tanglewood acoustics and I was rather impressed. The standard model has a RRP of £220 (although I did see an RRP of £300 somewhere) and I'm getting the special edition for £100 brand new. They say that it's been hanging around for a while and they want shot of it.
I'll let you know how it goes :D

Mine has a different bridge and pins, dot inlays and a bone nut and (compensated) saddle. I'm quite excited.

Well done. EVERYONE should have an accoustic!!!
-
Yes they should!
I play my acoustic much more than my electrics. Well, before I sold it anyway. I was even looking at getting shot of my Ibanez Firebird to help fund a decent acoustic but I think I'll hang on to it. Once I'm better at playing, I think I'll look at building myself an acoustic from one of the Stew-Mac kits. Just got far too many projects at the minute (although I did crack on a bit with one last night) and I'm looking at buying a house so can't justify spending too much.
However, this thing looks like a really good buy, althjough obviously not a really decent axe I certainly think that it will do me for some time......... until I can afford a Patrick Eggle Stratford anyway.

Yamaha are soooo under-rated. check them out. Just go to a shop and try a bunch and see what you like! :D
-
ARSE ARSE ARSE.
The acoustic that I reserved, they decided to sell anyway. :x
Really not happy. If anyone goes to ******** in ********, please tell them that they're a big bunch of bar-stewards.
EDIT: I've edited this to remove the name of the shop involved as I've calmed down a bit and given them a chance to put it right (by email as the guy on the phone said he couldn't do anything). But if the tossbuckets don't respond or their response registers 0 on the "give-a-shite-ometer" I'll happily name and shame........ and send a turd in the post

Sod it, bought one off ebay.
Got one of these little beasties.

In the big smoke this weekend so I'll more than likely pick it up then. I've played one very similar before and I liked it a lot. Picked it up for £130.
The wife is happy as she says that I can stop being so grumpy now as I have been moaning quite a bit.

Thats quite a nice looking acoustic TM, hows it sound?
I think acoustic has opened up my playing a lot too, using heavier strings, finger picking etc. Something i think all guitarists should at least give a try.
-
Nice and got a Bband they can sound great

An A3 preamp and under saddle pickup (UST) cost more than he paid for the guitar
Sounds blooming marvelous too!
Good deal there

They are a good piece of kit

I spoke to the seller last night and he's got a load of Tanglewood ex demos. Said that he'll have them all ready for me to play on so I can choose the one that I want. He actually thinks one of the cheaper ones blows this out of the water for sound quality, so recommends I try that. Strange a salesman trying to push a cheaper guitar at you.
He also builds and repairs guitars, so after a 30 minute phone call last night, I might be getting a big bag of bits too :D

Have to pass on his name....mmm new acoustic time
-
Yeah man. Once I've picked it up and I'm happy, I'll ask him if it's OK to post his number or ebay details.
