Title: a general noob needs help
Post by: thtguyoverthere on August 21, 2008, 10:36:39 AM
Hi, i've become interested in pickups lately mainly because i'm trying to figure out which two to go for in my new guitar (fender jaguar HH). There's more to them than i ever initially imagined and whilst i'm going to keep learning to make up my own mind up eventually some suggestions/general advice would be handy. I've always liked the nailbomb and figured i'd put that in the bridge the neck is where the problem is. I want something to offset the grunt of the nailbomb a more vintage single coil "twangy" sound like you get with fenders. Though from what i've read you can't really just take two pick ups stick them together and assume it will work? I think a seymour duncan p-rail is a possibility but as i say general advice/suggestions would be handy thanks!

Yeah, that was my first thought. It seems like a lot of people match a MQ neck up with a Nailbomb bridge.

^ +1

but you would get more 'fender twang' simply by wiring a neck 'bucker in parallel. if there is a seperate neck volume you could also increase it's value for more twang/spank.
