:D OK here we go guys pics of my Custom Build from Feline. Ok it`s a PRS shape [my personnal fav !] it`s a Mahogany Back with a Maple [ Flame] Cap. I`ve had Chambers cut out of the Mahogany to help lighten the weight. [ i`m told it also helps the sound] it`s a 24 fret Rosewood finger board. Notice that the Headstock is a reverse PRS style. The P/U`s are Cold Sweats, Trem Wilkinson, Machine Heads Sperzels. You`ll have noticed that there are no Knobs Johnathan hasn`t drilled them yet as he was waiting for me to make up my mind ! The last pic is the whole thing. Johnathan put it together so i could see what it would look like & make any changes before he does it all for real. Oh & yes It`s caled THe Preacher [ a private joke]

Looks lovely JT, that reverse headstock really works well, a very nice touch.
What sort of finish are you going for?
Another fine guitar from the Feline Stable! 8)
-
wow really nice. I was thinkin about doin that headstock design on my custom guitar
-
Where you able to plug it in and play it JT?
I'm keen to know how the CS set perform in a chambered guitar.
-
That's really nice!-
very tasteful, and expertly done.
-Would love to hear some clips when the finishing is done...
Congrats on yer new axe...Drac
ps:Kudos Feline!
-
that is one gorgeous guitar! I'd love something like that with a tun-o-matic bridge. I can't wait to see it finished! hope you have great fun playing
-
just sod the vol\tone and have a switch to go between pickups... 80s style! 8)
-
That looks fantastic jt! I'd love a go on it!
-
That guitar looks hella sweet. Would it be rude to ask for how much?
-
As my Dad always says ' money in good words' :D
-
:D Hi guys glad `ya like it !
Ok Tim i`m going for a cepia [ i think thats how you spell it] burst finish for those of you not sure it`s the colour of Tea i don`t want anything to heavy colour wise & it`ll only be on the face. The back will be left as will the neck natural just a light varnish. When i meet up with Johnathan in the week the guitar was empty. He had put it together so i coud hold & feel it & check over the cavity routes. i can`t tell you the thrill of holding a newly cut guitar ! it`s very organic & gives you an emidiate connection to it. The fret board absolutley blew me away ! the fret job is outstanding ! Johnathan put the thing together after our discussion & then sent on some photos for me. So at this moment i still havn`t heard the Cold Sweats ! but the knobs will be drilled shortley & then Johnathan said i should take the guitar away & play it for a week or 2 [ he suggested doing a gig with it ] he can then make any adjustments i might want before the finish goes on. [ Yes i`ll Post Pics when its finished] As for how much £1850

Nice guitar JT, nice work Feline.
I like the reverse headstock too, the finish sounds like it'll be nice too.
-
Nice one JT. Great job Jonathan.
If you like the PRS swtching, but hate the rotary control, ask Jonathan to use the Megaswitch-P (StewMac sell it, but I think Schaller make it). It gives you all the PRS sounds in a strat style switch. I have it on my Warmoth PRS clone with a calibrated set of MM's. It is so much easier than the PRS set up!
The guitar looks great, the sepia burst will look great on it. Like you, I prefer to leave the back wood clear, I don't know why PRS finishes a lot of them in a dark finish (unless it is to hide cheaper wood on the back!).
I am sure you can't wait to get it out and play.
-
:D Hi Phil i agree the PRS rotary system is cr@p. God no`s why they persist in it !
i was going to use a Strat style selecter but have decided to use a Gibbo style switch but it`ll be where the Knobs are [ slightly forward so it`s easy to use without having to jump over knobs to get to it] It`ll have 1 Volume & 2 Tone controls + Coil split
I love the natural wood finish`s to the back of guitars it makes `em look like what they are made of wood !! i hate that heavy Polyurathaine varnish. it makes the wood look like plastic ! espiecaly when the back of the guitar is coloured ie; Black backs [PRS]

Wow! Stunning piece of work. Is the finish going to be something like Gibson's Iced Tea? That would look great. 8)
For knobs and switching I'd go for a single volume and a three way switch behind the bridge, Santana style.
-
That looks so cool!
The fretwork looks especially tasty, too. :)
-
Nice guitar man! I know your painting it, but I like it in the white! :D
That trem, is that the Wilkinson VS100? You'll have to let me know how that gets on - its on my list of 'possibles'...
-
That's hands down the nicest looking guitar of that shape I've ever seen! 8)
-
I agree with the accolades. Jonathan seems to have done a great job yet again. That sepia will look stunning and I am sure that we will all be looking forward to the clips too. A real investment there JT.

What that picture does not show is how nice that flame top is
the wood is very pale but has a stunning flame in it
Once we enhance the grain it will show like crazy.

Thanks for all the nice words of appreciation guys!
We will let JT try it for a few days but will stress that we don't want it to get dirty or too oily as the finish has to stick to it and if it gets contaminated then the paint won't want to stick so much.
But it will let John decide if he likes every last detail of the feel before we get stuck in with the finishing..
As John said to me in the week- it is only costing him the same as an off the peg guitar , but he's getting a custom shop guitar , the way he likes them and ALREADY LOADED with BKPs!!!
-
Sweet guitar.
Nice work Jon!
-
If it's anything like as nice as my Explorer you made, JT is in for a lot of playing enjoyment 8)
-
That explorer of yours is gorgeous! Is it a satin finish or an oil finish? And did Jonathan use filler for the grain/pores?
-
The timber is sealed and then copious amounts of boiled linseed oil applied.Feline did an amazing job on it and sixth months on it looks as good as the first day I got it-gorgeous, really tactile and the tone........all those Ricky Medlock licks just keep tumbling out
-
i'd be PARANOID about getting a lovely new guitar like that - i'd be worried sick about putting the first few dents and scr@pes into it. it'll be a second hand well gigged LP for me, then some feline fretwork and BKPs :guitar4:
-
That first ding means it really belongs to you..............you grow together from that point on :D

:D i`m looking forward to putting my first ding on it ! LOL
it`s not rock`n`roll without the dings !

Time for a timely update
Back from the paintshop and looking good
-
Very nice indeed. That color really brings out the flame.
-
OH MY GOD! That finish is so good! I want me a custom Feline guitar
-
Oh my god that finish is stunning!!
-
:D Thanks for posting the updated pics Johnathon.
I`m very pleased with the finish as i write this i`ve not seen the guitar in the flesh so to speak with the finish, but Johnathon asures me it looks even better in the flesh than the pics do !! :D
It looks like i`ll finally get my hands on it on Friday 30th Dec. [ just in time for my New Years eve gig !!! ]
And yes i promise i`ll post sound clips for you guys
:D 8)

Here ya go guys
-
Goddam, do I want one of those! If I had the money for a nice PRS, I'd totally go for a nice Feline instead. :)
I need to become a bank robber or something ....

+1 :D

That is PUUURFECT ;)
-
:D OK guys i`ve finally got my hands on it !!! YIPEE !!!!!! :D
As Tim would say " A silly grin moment " !
The photos don`t do the finish justice. Johnathon explained that because of the flash on the camera it made the guitar look slightly different a bit more in your face. It`s actually a lot nicer in the flesh, it`s a lot more sutle for want of a better phrase. Beautifull looking !! i love it !!
Yes i have played it plugged in to an amp. Johnathons own JCM800, The tone chambers really make a difference, They give the guitar a "Thicker" type of sound. As Johnathon demo`d reminicsent of that early Ted Nugent type of Growl !! We both Loved It !! LOL
Clips to follow shortley !!

It looks beautiful all finished! I want one too!

Nice job there. I am looking forward to hearing more.

Congratulations on your new it sure looks pretty, and I'm glad to hear that it sounds they way you wanted it to.
Personally it looks nicer than a PRS.
Rob...
-

Hey JT
Thanks for the great review on Harmony Central
http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Feline_Guitars/Preacher_PRS_Style-1.html
How you getting on with the Mules in there ?
Does it sound much different to with the Cold Sweats??
Do tell...
-
:D The Mules sound Fantastic in The Preacher. It kinda gives the guitar a more vintage tone. [ warmer to my ears anyway ] The CS`s have a very modern kinda vibe to`em but the Mules are just perfect.
I have to say that the neck/finger board are just perfect. The neck has a wonderfull played in feel to it, & the fret job is simply outstanding. Couple that with the Mules & everytime a plug into an amp i`m instantly in "Shred" Heaven !!! LOL
The Mules can Handle any amount of gain you can throw at`em. They are the most versatile P/U i`ve ever come across.

Hey Jt the Preacher is a stunner so enjoy it bro. Ive just put some Mules into my Les Paul and they are indeed awesome. Feline have done a tremendous job so Im thinking of a custom job myself now.
cheers

Go Custom it`ll cure you of GAS because nothing else ever meets up to the standard that you get with custom builds.

That's a beautiful axe! It has a special something (atmosphere?) that all PRS guitars I've seen so far lacked. The special fretwork is a great idea! Congrats! :D
-
Exquisite :!:
