Wow!
I swapped my Budda Combo against this Bogner Cab + Cash. Wow, what a huge difference a cab can make. This is resonant, punchy, big, rounded and full - just sounds great with both, the Axe or the Shiva head.
I recommend to anyone looking into a 4x12 to check these out!
-
I swear by, and have not idea how I got by without, my Uberkab.
Good buy Hunter!
-
This is not helping my gas for a 4x12 at all. They just look so cool (even with a rack on top :P) Would love to have one but I really cant justify it til I get into a gigging band again :(
-
Nice. Congrats on a great cab !

Ohhhh, this cab with your GH50L would be shweeet <lol>
By the way, the seller/swapper got instead a 2x12 from Paul Lenders, according to him the version with 2 eminence Govners was as big sounding as any 4x12. I don't care as I just _needed this cab.

Yeah I've been tempted to get a pair of Governers for my 2x12 after reading good reviews but my G12H30s sound pretty good allready and I dont want to spend £100 on new speakers to find out they sound no better
-
Bogner cabs have a great reputation, I will have to bite the bullet one day and buy one. Will wait till I'm back gigging first, actually, will have to wait till I can walk without crutches before thinking of another 4x12, lol.

I believe your knees are not compatible with the 4x12" weight... :(
(Ok, my belly is not compatible too with a good knee condition and it's still growing )

Nice cab :)
You need to change your avatr and sig now, Hunter ;)
-
Awesome cab - all it needs is a VALVE AMP on top :P

i like hunter's axefx rig - its super cool. though i agree it looks a bit weird on top of the cab. maybe it needs to be hidden away behind the cab?
-
Looks great! Does a decent cab really improve tone that much? I've been thinking about getting a better cab to replace my marshall 1960 lead cab that came with my dsl100, but don't know if its worth it or not :?

Done, Thanks Dave!

OK, I'll put my Shiva on top and hide the rack behind the Cab then? Comeooon guys, that's ridiculous :O)

I guess Marshall cabs are as good if they are pre 1980s.
But the cab makes a huge difference. Not so much on the recorded tone if it's mic'ed close. But with ambience you can also hear it there. Let me see if I find time to record the V30 in my Heritage Cab versus the Bogner Cab soon.
Go try yourself. There are quite some dealers now in UK carrying Bogner cabs (and other top brands). Those Marshall 1960s sell well normally, so you can probably fund half the Bogner or sth.

certain rockstars have made bigger deceptions ;)

Van Halen :P

Bogner cabs are very nice, indeed. I rue the day my rehearsal space replaced the Bogner cabs with Diezel/Roccaforte.
-
excellent! those bogner cabs are meant to be great, they look very classy too... i think i've tried the 2x12? seemed pretty nice, but i was trying amps rather than cabs that day, just happened to be the cab i was plugged into. :)

Wow, either way this is rather impressive, at a rehearsal space I would more expect Behringer 4x12s :O)
Just played again using the PRS with the RebelYells, a Budda model in the Axe and turned the Carvin about 1/4 up (in mono bridged, so around 1/4 of 600W into 16 Ohm), what a thump in my stomach, it was like BOOM and then I damped the note slightly and let it sustain and it just turned into the sweetest harmonic feedback driving through all the octaves ... what a pleasure live can be!!
-
Hmmmm, sounds like you have had sweet results from this. Like TomW I am wondering whether its worth the upgrade.
I would have to put G12T75's back in, sell 1960, buy new cab Bogner + fit my Sidewinders.
Bogner clone / similar specced cab (empty?)
Does recorded tone differ with your Tascam recorder?

I'll try some room and close recordings to compare the Heritage and the Bogner.
Good thing is I have a stereo amp, so I can connect one cab either side and fade left to right to compare them.
-
Did you do any clips in the end?
The wheels are in motion, just ordered an unloaded 4x12 :)
-
sure, clips here:

On a related note and rather than start a new thread I just took delivery of a Hayden Peacemaker 4X12" cabinet.
I haven't put it on full blast but it sounds excellent from what I can tell (although I'm not yet a connoisseur in terms of larger cabs).
I have only two reservations about it:
1: The piping appears to be made of yellow translucent washing line, but only on close inspection. It actually looks surprisingly swish.
2: With my Tiny Terror on top my amp looks like David Byrne from Talking Heads. This is made all the more comical by the fact it is a light cream tolexed cabinet.
Overall I'd say it was worth a punt at the £120 asking price new.
I think that Hayden are trying to clear stock out of shops to make way for new models at the moment so I'd get them now if you need a big cab on the cheap.
I also think they are actively undercutting other manufacturers to get their product into the open market and escape the reputation that they had as Ashdown amps.
They also claim to have one of Martin's colleagues from Matamp working on the amp designs. Perhaps Martin could shed some light on it and his views on this designer.

Dave Green, formerly of Matamp, does indeed work for Hayden. Not much change, as most of the Ashdown guitar amps were Matamps in drag.
Other than that, no comment!

In Dave's own words wouldn't that be no f---ing comment

Just double checking. Does your 4x12 have the Vintage 30's in it?
Thanks!

Yes it does.
