Hey guys.
I've started thinking (already) about changing the pickups in my PRS Cu22 and having spoken to Tim, he said that the 3 most popular sets for a PRS would be VHIIs, Crawlers or Abraxas.
I already have VHIIs in a HH Strat, and a Crawler in the bridge of a HSS Strat so I'm looking slightly more towards the Abraxas for a different flavour.
I don't remember reading too much about these pickups, so thought I'd ask any users of them to chime in!
Thanks.

Abraxas neck = great
Hi Ben.
Didn't the other guitarist in TO have an Abraxas in the neck of 1 of his guitars for a while?

The Abraxas is on my 'to try' list for sure, they'll go in my Les Paul std.
I'm thinking they'll be FAT with a smooth and full top end, the perfect blues/rock soloing pickup. Well, thats the impression I have of them in my head.

Yeah, me too, but it is very much in my head.
I imagine they'd be a little too warm and smooth for an all-mahogany guitar, but great for something with mahogany plus maple, like an LP, Yamaha SG... or PRS.

Hi Craig,
I have an Abraxas set in a Hamer Sunburst and it sounds great. The TO song Outlanders has a great example of an Abraxas neck pickup when Jimmy plays his intro - it is very Floyd'y sounding. The bridge is bright with a hint of compression in the tone (as you would expect), and as a set they go together very nicely. I had VHII's in my PRS Artist II (22 fret, hardtail), but changed them to Mules as I wanted a bit more open sound, the VHII's sounded great but they were a little to bassy for the sound I was after from that guitar.

I have a Yamaha SG and was thinking about an Abraxas set - for the whole Satana feel.
Are they not essentiall a hotter version of the Mule?

Thanks for the info guys.
If the Abraxas ARE a hotter version of the Mules then that should suit me just fine :D
Pickups for this guitar may have to wait a month or so, so lots of time to change my mind yet!

I'm tempted by putting an abraxas neck into my tele, just waiting on confirmation from our man Tim. Man is a legend, and a pretty good fella with the old pickup designing/building.
