Title: Strat Bathtub Routing

What's your experience? It is detrimental to the overall sound? Or do the benefits of being able to use H-S-H, S-S-H, etc. without drilling, outweigh any adverse effects?

Personally I do prefer to have 2 universally sized cutouts that will take either single coil or humbucker and one single coil in the middle - as it gives a bit more structural strength. I don't suppose it affects THAT much.
I remember that on the Ibanez Allan Holdsworth model they claimed it to be like a sound chamber so maybe it does alter the tone - I do know that Holdsworth likes a semi - type guitar

To be honest I wouldn't wanna lose anymore wood than I absolutely had to. Maybe it'd be less of an issue if there wasn't the rout at the back for the springs?
