OK, first of all, am I right in thinking that if the amp (I'm pretty sure it's the valves, but i'm not sure) is making a low humming sound that i need to replace the power valves?
If so, what 6L6s would you guys recommend for a Mesa Boogie F50?

Most likely the hum is due to a faulty valve, but you'll only really find out by changing them out for new ones and seeing if the hum goes away. Start with the pre-amp valves (12AX7's probably), swap out one at a time with a known good valve. If that doesn't sort it out, then it sounds like you need to take it to a tech anyway, as to get new 6L6's will require the amp to be re-biased, and I'm guessing you're probably not able to do this. If that sorts it out, then great, if not, then it'll be in the right hands to sort it out.

Can't go wrong with JJ valves. I changed all my valves a few months ago to JJ and I had no issues at all though I can only wish I had an amp like yours.

Mesa use graded valves, so if you buy Mesa or Groove Tube valves you will not need to re-bias.
