Title: Question for Feline on Hot British
Post by: mikey5 on September 08, 2008, 08:37:19 PM
Any Radial Tonebone Hot British Distortion users out here? I use a Boss MT2 pedal which is really nice and versatile. I was super close to picking one up on ebay the other day though but passed it up. I guess I am wondering if any of you have experience with that pedal?

I've got one and it's great . Somewhat more authentically voiced for classic rock tones that the metal zone (as versatile as some players find that)
I have run mine though a few amps and it just pleases me every time

Hey Feline man so sorry one last question. I am down to two pedals... Radial Plexitube or the Vox Cooltron Bulldog

Could you do me a favor and listen to a couple of these sound clips and tell me if the Plexitube Hot British can get this sound and better. I kind of like the open sound that I have heard the Bulldog deliver. The clips I have heard from Radial sound a little compressed, but I assume that it can pull the open tone off with ease.I have also heard very few clips from tonebone. You tell me

I guess copy that into your search engine and it will take you strait there

Number 4-5-6-7 are the ones Id check out.

I'm not actually sure . The vox pedal sounds great, and I'd be tempted to give it a try .
Think the Radial is more retro - compression etc
Both are good though - very tempted by the vox  in those clips I must confess

Darn it your not supposed to say that Feline. Your supposed to know exactly what I should do. I guess I will roll with the Vox. Its just I have heard such good things from Radial Users and it seems higher end. Oh well mess around with your pedal and see if you can get some righteous sounds out of it maybe

Both sound great. Think I would go with the vox for value (£40-£50 less than the radial).
Also try tonebone plexitube, more expensive though.

i almost pee'd myself listening to this
If you want to buy my Hot British I'm happy to sell it as long as I can get a Plexitube to replace it

Thanks man for the offer but I need something two channeled. I would either go for the Plexitube (which is two Hot British pedals in one) or the bulldog. I stopped considering one channeled pedals a little while ago. So If you were to buy The Bulldog or the Plexitube which one would you buy if you were me? The only thing is those radial pedals dont sound all that open-too compressed for my liking, and the vox can nail those scooped tones really well too.
Thanks for everything man I appreciate this forum

All their demos are a bit muddy/unclear. I think it sounds pretty awesome though, personally.

I thought it sounded good - maybe the recording was a tad muddy but I liked some of the tones a lot

I would blame any muddiness on the Youtube audio instead of the pedal. Youtube is famous for sucking tone. :D
