Title: Dumb-ass question
Post by: MrBump on September 10, 2008, 08:32:16 PM
... about front loading guitars, i.e. pickups mounted on to the guitar itself rather than on to a scratchplate.

How do you mount them?  Do you just get extra long screws and mount them directly into the cavity?  Or does the cavity have to be created with a lip, that the screws can go into?

Honestly, I'm not an idiot.  I've just never owned a guitar like that.

Mark.

On my Charvel they just screwed into the body itself. You get some foam or those rubber inserts that come with singlecoils to adjust the height.

Or you do a measure before route how tall will be the string and how long you want the pickups from the string, then route it and screw it directly to the body.... But of course, would be a custom guitar by a god builter (not that easy)...
Never from a factory

Cool.  That's kinda what I thought.

Thanks, chaps.
