Title: Yamaha and Ibanez
Post by: MrBump on September 10, 2008, 08:35:44 PM
A couple of models have been catching my eye:

Yamaha ART 500
Ibanez AES 920

Anyone ever owned one?

Mark.

I haven't own either of them, but have tried them and they are both really good guitars for the price, though I' m presuming you have the yamaha and ibanez names back to front. I liked the yamaha better to  play but it is alot more expensive  and I don't like active picks. I think the ibanez is better looking and a good bargin too though.

Sorry not really much help

Good spot with the name - copy and paste error!

Yeah, the actives put me off too...

Thanks.

I have the Ibanez and it's a nice guitar, well made, well finished, looks good, nice unplugged tone. The only issue is the pickups. They aren't 'horrible' but they aren't amazing. Given the price of the guitar though it's no bother to rip the active electronics out and fit some good passives though. Which I will be doing as soon as I've got some spare cash.
