I'm considering buying a ZVex Fuzz Factory to nail down the late 60's distorted lead tone I was just wondering if anyone on here has any experience of this pedal, any feedback would be welcome cheers.
-
Hi I have not got an answer but wondered if any one knew if there was any noticable difference in sound or reliability between the ZVEX fuzz factory and the vexter one.
Cheers

My friend has a Fuzz Factory, but he always uses it for more extreme fuzz tones although I've heard they're meant to be pretty versatile.
The Vexters are the same pedal except not hand-painted as far as I know.

They laso have a socket for external power as far as I remember.
Far Eastern manufactured, but the same pedal none the less (Zach is fussy about build quality)

Zack Vex claims they are similar inside , he even ships them parts.
i have a vexter FF and it sounds killer , a friend has a handpainted and his sounds a tiny bit thicker
they sound closer to muse and jimi hendrix type fuzz

id say go for it. theres so many different sounds you can get from it. if you search around the web theres a few places iv found where people have posted lots of different settings for lots of different fuzz types, from subtle right through to crazy breaking up mentalness

They will sound exactly the same(according to Zachary Vex). I've only ever bought the painted ones.

I love Zvex stuff
I think there is a difference between Vexter stuff and the painted stuff
I own a Super Hard On (fnar fnar) and it's my number 1 at the mo
This American chap demonstrates the differences with the Box of Rock:

I presume there must be a slight difference with the Fuzz Factory pedals
I bet they are both pretty cool

Very intresting youtube clip.
Thanks

Theres a guy over on the musicradar forums who makes fuzzes, monkey fuzz or something-if his clips are anything to go by they sound great.

I'm close to building one myself, the schematic doesn't look too bad and it beats paying close £200 for one.

I have a Fuzz factory and IMO its the only fuzz you'll ever need as its so tweakable. It takes some time getting used to the controls mind as they're pretty interactive with each other. Paired with an analog delay is the way I use it mostly for searing solo leads a la Mr Hillage

I'd have to say the Vexter is the harshest and least musical of the fuzzez I own. As mentioned it is very tweakable and you can get some very weird feedback effects out of it. However to my ears the nicest boutique fuzz I've had so far is the Skreddy Lunar lander, that should only set you back around £20 more than the Fuzz Factory. Vintage and rare stock them and I think they're better than the ZVex pedal. But to each their own.
