Well, it arrived lunchtime and past the first test, an initial plug in lasted almost an hour and felt like 5 mins :D
Very, very impressed.Build quality is good, layout is simple and relevant, most importantly................my god, I can get so many tones from this little brute and it's loud as hell.Spent another hour really digging into all the tones and have yet to find a bad one.............even everything flat out is useable(yes, I know  but I just had to do it  ).
It does a great clean.....warm, dynamic and easy to dial in.OD is excellent, more gain than a distorted hairdryer and all points in beteween and the look is pure Rammstein.
I can see why it's found favour with the metal boys but it does do so much more.Full marks so far, I'll let you know how it performs over time.
I'll have it at Music Live if anyone fancies a blast.

Screamer 50watt combo.
sorry, but could people please stop talking about things I want to buy?
It was on my list of maybes, then crossed off, now is creeping back on. I'll have some money in about a fortnight, you can start talking again then!
joking, of course! It sounds like a great little amp, I'll have to go and check these out sometime soon...
-
I'm so jealous. Clips. CLIPS! :D :D. Bet the BKP'd guitars sound awesome through it.

Dammit! I hoped you wouldnt like it so I could have it  When is the next Music Live, I wanna go to try out some MM's or Warpigs
-
I had a funny feeling you'd like this amp
Congrats, it's a great piece of kit!
-
It really is a nice amp. The distorted channels on it are amazingly clear, no matter how much gain you throw on. The reverb on impressed me too, as did the clean channels.

Tom, I'll keep him talking at Music Live, you stick it in your pocket..oh sorry Tim, didn't realise you were watching. Hey, slightly off topic, would it be good if we forum members could get to music live for a group hug- I shall have to work on Mrs 38th to get time off. I am supposed to be in Barcelona around that time though

Andy!
-
I think the Oxford guitar gallery stock them
-
I've only been able to find one clip of the Screamer on the net. Please do the second one, Tim!
Cheers
-
Definately but my studio is in bits at the moment so it'll have to wait until I visit HJM I'm afraid :(
Mind you it's so loud, I'm sure if I crank it right up again you'll hear it from here

a 40-50w valve combo is loud enough most people reckon. Easier to carry around aswell. I wouldnt mind one of these amps either

£600-700 i think?
-
They list new at £895 but I got mine second hand for a very good price  so no qualms there.
Having played it for two days, I'm still as impressed as my initial test.
Yes it is US voiced but I've found that it does have a great mid and I can get it to sound like my Marshalls with a bit of tweaking. However that's not an issue and not why I got it.............it just sounds good and is very easy to play.Put it this way, after plugging in, dialing in a tone, I just play..........not even aware of the amp, just playing guitar............that's got to be where it's at in my books 8)
-
When the money train arrives I'll get one. 'Till then it's my good ol' Fender.
-
895 Pounds? Thats 1,300 EUROs. Guys, these UK dealers rip you off for ENGLs. Check my favourite German Web Store, where you get the combo for 995 (top: 895) Euros, which is >30% less, they ship to UK too.

I went away from scoop settings with too much Gain and now I'm at (settings for the BlackDogged Les Paul):
Clean Gain 11 o'clock; Bright off; LeadGain 1 o'clock, Bass 1, Mid 2, Treb 11, LeadPres 10-12 (less at higher Masters)
Tim and others, what is your favourite setting for a nice tone that is cutting through a band's noise?
-
Mwahaha Tim no longer owns the amp - I bought it from him at LGS 8)
Was my first experience of BKP's too, and now i just need to save money :)
-
Hmm...ENGL's look kinda tasty, but I've heard reliability issues, plus I think they seem way too high-gain oriented for me. All the samples I hear are metal tracks.
-
^ It's true you only hear metal tracks, but when i get my mic and new sound card, i'll get you hearing the real screamer - i'll stick some blues through it and see what you think then :P

Cool, I'll look forward to it!
-
So deg0ey, why would he do that if he so happy few months ago?
Well, and what are your settings then?
-
Haha he said he was selling because marshall gave him a stack and he therefore doesn't need it anymore...i think...
My settings are:
Bass 6
Mid 7
Treble 5
Presence 5
-
hmm Bass 6 means Bass at 1 o'clock right?
So you also dial in mids, think he needs that to get enough body.
Wow, Marshall gives away stacks? For free? Where can i learn how to wind pickups, I also want my stack !!!
-
Yes Bass 6 means 1 O'Clock...To be honest it sounds great with everything on 5, but the reason it's set up as it is atm is 'cause i was using my tele through it, and the treble was a bit overpowering...
EDIT: and it was loud, he may have said he bought a marshall - but i swear he said they gave it to him...ask him and see :P

i have a pile of non-metal tracks recorded, if you want them. pretty amateur recording quality (pc world mic straight into sound recorder! ), but it might give you a bit of an idea...
but yeah, most of the engls are aimed at high gain- if i didn't play ANY metal, I doubt I'd be looking at them.
The other non-metal tones are great (for a high gain amp), but they are pretty modern amps, at the end of the day...
That's my take on it anyway.
Now I just need to get my hands on a smaller wattage vintage-y combo, and something along the lines of a splawn quick rod...

Screamer 50watt combo.
Does it scream as good as the name suggests?
