Title: Home Recording!!
Post by: willo on September 17, 2008, 08:32:20 PM
So I quit my band and am now officially solo. Woo!

I need to get a recording setup together - any advice?

If you've got a decent amp for recording volumes, I would probably go with:

Mic + DAW + Monitors.

If not, maybe:

Interface/Stand-a-lone recording unit + Monitors.

Not that I'm an expert on the matter by any means, though!

Mines pretty simple and I dont really know what I'm doing but I use:

SM57 > Presonus Inspire 1394 > computer then out through some Creative t20s. Not the best speakers ever but they're better than the 2.1 setup I had before, just lack the bass kick of a sub but more than make up for it with their clarity and they still shake the floor so its all good :P I'd guess they're by no means accurate though. I use Reaper to record in because its free and easy to use.
