Hi,
I have got a Schecter tele shaped guitar with twin humbucklers in it. It a bit of a heap of junk really but im toying with the idea of upgradeing the pickups as its not geting played. I have an idea what pickups work in a les pauls or SG's but no idea what works well and what to avoid in a tele shaped guitar. What do you think would work well? Currently I have no idea what sound I really am hoping to get out of the guitar after a pickup upgrade so all idea greatly received.
Cheers guys

Can you tell us the neck and body woods, and is it a set-neck or a bolt-on?

Is a humbuckler anything like the Hamburglar? PDT_008

Very funny twilight I like it. Philli its a bolt on maple neck alder body I think. It looks similar to the Schecter PT model on thier site.

Do you play metal? Rock? Blues? Other? What is your amp?

I have a holydiver in the bridge of mine, and going to order an abraxas for the neck neck week after i get paid. Should cover most of the bases, and Tim agreed.

Hi play mainly rock, bit of blues and a little metal. Standard tuning for all in general. Amps are Mesa F30, Cornell romany, ENGL screamer head, Roland VGA3 and a Peavy bandit. At monent the the Screamer and Bandit are not geting any play.

I think a set of Mules will suit you nicely!

I have got a mule in a les pau style gordon smithl. Its very nice, but cannot help thinking I may got else. I have a Riff Raff neck thats not being used at the moment I was thinking it would be too bright for a tele style guitar. Was also wondering about PG blues set but was not to sure about them in a tele style guitar.

Well then. Sell the tele and buy an SG. You'll thank me later. ;)

I wouldn't say telecasters are bright guitars, sure the stock single coils tend to be but it's a big lump of a guitar. Alder is a very balanced wood tone-wise, only slightly on the bright side. Best bet is to email or phone the bkp team anyway with a specific type of tone in mind. Want something cutting? Warm? Bright? Nasally?

I normally prefer vintage to vintage-hot humbuckers in my mahogany guitars, but the couple of times I've tried them in alder bolt-ons I've found then a bit thin and bright.
If it was me, I'd be tempted to get something fatter and a bit more powerful, like the Holydiver or Crawler.
