just curious, what is Bare Knuckle's go-to bridge humbucker for 80's hair metal? sorta Dokken, White Lion, VH, Ratt, and Loudness all rolled into one?
Cold Sweat
VHII
Rebel Yell
Holy Diver
?????
I just scored an old Kramer Baretta on eBay seconds ago. it's naked, tho...no pickup at the bridge. my metal tastes are usually south of heaven, but I was thinking of turning this axe into an 80's LA hair metal machine 8)
thanks

For sure ;0) Either a Cold Sweat or Rebel Yell.
I can get a cracking Ratt Warren DeMartini sound out of my RY equipped Les Paul, I'm too cr@p to record it though.
-
a number of them are hair metally... even the mule or miracle man can cover the genre without too much persuation, though they might not be the number one choice.

I always thought the RY was capable of sounding very hair metal in my The Paul. It would sound a bit brighter in the Kramer, but should still do the job I think.
Don't shoot me down on this, but what about the Nailbomb? A lot of those guys were using basswood superstrats with Floyds, and the Nailbomb seems to be the go-to recommendation for basswood guitars.

Yeah I had a Rebel Yell it was pure 80s, not really my thing hence why I dont have it any more. Not the best playing (in fact its shitee) but heres a clip of it in my LP on possibly the most cheesy 80s sounding track ever  - http://www.netmusicians.org/files/70-topgun1.mp3

There is no one pickup that will do it all.
Miracle Man is what the Duncan Distortion wants to be when it grows up. That will cover Dokken/LOUDNESS
Holy Diver will cover the VH/White Lion/RATT
I would go with a Miracle Man

as to says, there are a load of different hair metal tones. i'm definitely digging my miracle man for that type of stuff though (but don't take that as a recommendation per se, considering that's the only one out of the hair metal pickups i've tried). :)

thanks for the replies 8)
but I forgot the VHII
suitable for hair metal?

I've only experienced VHII from the BKP range and would say its suitable. IMHO 80's hair metal was tonally girl-friendly. My Soloist has VHII loaded and I think this combination has a very girl-friendly tone.
