As the title says! 10pm on BBC2.
Sorry if this has come up somewhere else.
-
Ace. Sky+ here we come.
-
Better off watching the friday show, hour long and extended.
-
The guy playing a tele on the I kissed a girl bollocks (Iahate that song enough already) does infact conform with Roo's theory.
He looks like such a tw@t. Its pissing me off.

I was actually thinking of what Roo would say about that tele. And i would probably agree with him on this one.
Rubbish song too.

I hadn't heard that song before, i thought it was alright :p I liked the track with the girl playing the bohdran and singing, and the 5 string double bass- the guitar sound was great- old school dirty fuzzy kinda thing :)

They weren't bad, but he would have looked like a knob if he played a pointy metal guitar too.
-
will have to watch it on friday. katy perry's on it too? interesting. i actually quite like that song- credit where credit's due, it's catchy as hell. EDIT: even writing this post has got it in my head again... :?

I thought it was a very catchy song actually (and much more "guitary" and raw than the studio single version), and she is very delicious, IMHO. Don't like the title or what the song is about at all though - really puts me off.
Oh, and I thought Dave Gilmour was very, very lame - any one else concur ?

+1. I really did like one of the songs on the show - the one with the double bass and 'jazzy' guitar. Can't remember the name of the song or band though!

i think you've just added two and two there to get five, to be honest...
-
The song that Gilmour played was an old Richard Wright song. It was played as a tribute to him.
I don't know if that is a proper excuse for the lameness, but I thought it was a touching gesture.
-
Gilmour was awful. Looked and sounded like he was phoning it in or something. Tone was excellent, singing and his demeanor was boring as hell.
-
That I Kissed a Girl song is bloody awful, shitee lyrics and it sounds even worse on jools if this youtube video is anything to go by. Still would though
And yes that guy with the tele does look like a bit of a twunt (yes, a twunt), I dont think its the tele doing that though :P
-
I really like that version of Kissed a Girl, if only she'd worn some of the outfits from the video ;)
-
Could not find that freaking Kissed A Girl song on Youtube

GOOD!
Maybe I should see what her other work is like
just to clarify on my earlier post... I am not saying she is uggers, I am not saying she can't sing. Its the opposite, and indeed that version was better, the lyrics just let it down! so much wasted opportunity. I really like how she sings.
Ofcourse the guitarist would look silly with a pointy metal axe, but not with a real guitar (LES PAUL :D )
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=NoKPi8xtyjA just for you Fernando
-
^Well said- agree with all of that. :)
Although I'm not sure if the guitarist would look anything but silly even with a Les Paul!
-

 I was searching it as if it was played by David Gilmour
-
She sure is tasty though.
Very chunky performance. Great drumming / Thick bass. She could move into rock quite easily.
-
That tele is lame because of the double cream with cream mounting rings... to BC Rich... if it has TxT pickups and bridge would be veeery nice :P
-
Apparently she was very active in the Christian music scene but wasn't selling so she took the, let's be sexual route <sigh>
I guess I will have to wait till tomorrow night to see what Gilmours apearence ends up like

wasn't she on the warped tour? at least that what i read in an interview in a newspaper a while back...
-
As a Gilmour fan I was a bit dissapointed but I think of may have been a bit of a spur of the moment kind of thing.
I don't think Floyd ever played that song live, it was recorded in a panic after Barrett left in early 68. So a 40 year gap and the fir umayances of Wrights death I will cut him some slack (this time)
Apparently Wright was supposed to be playing the show (and only canceled the appearence 3 weeks ago)
-
yeah, i saw that. i don't think it's fair to blame him for the performance (i actually thought it was pretty good  ) considering the circumstances... it was clear he was very upset (in the quick interview with jools).
-
I thought it was OK, but Gilmour does have a habit of becoming a little dull...
I wanted Jeff Beck to get up and jam!
And I LOVED Imelda May!!!
-

+1 - she was very lovely indeed. The guitar her guitarist was using has made me have second thoughts about selling my Gretsch!

Just watched it on BBC iPlayer - I thought that arrangement was absolutely tremendous! I think I'm in love with Katy Perry all of a sudden...
Gilmour's performances were a bit dreary, but I think the two songs were to blame - they simply weren't very good, TBH. Wasn't that Phil Manzanera on second guitar?
-
i think i liked katy perry's other song better, "i kissed a girl" was too rocked up, if that makes sense. it's like she was so aware it was a pop song, and wanted more credibility by making it more rock. i thought the guitar tone was much better in the other song, too. she seemed very thin on jools, too...
imelda may seemed pretty good, too. :)
-

Yeah, she could do with some home cooking! Hope she's not going down the Winehouse route...
I didn't get the feeling she was trying to be more cred with that arrangement - it just looked like they were having fun messing with a song they've probably played a million times by now.
Oh........ I thought the pink sparkle Tele looked pretty cool....
-
She was stunning, anybody has her number?
-
Just watched the Official video, she was much fitter on Jools imo.
Still don't like the song much though.
-
Oh........ I thought the pink sparkle Tele looked pretty cool....
Me too!

Absolutely stunning voice and great guitar and bouble bass.

...and me. It's one of the best teles I've seen in a while, never seen one like it before.
But, I don't have a problem with a pink tele as I'm a huge James Burton fan.

Classic guitarist trait! Hot woman on the TV, and we focus on the guitars!
Absolute clasic!!!

 Well, it's not difficult to find hot women on the TV, is it? But you don't see those guitars every day!

yeah. :(
maybe... i just wasn't that fond of the arrangement. wasn't too fussed on the tone either, i'm not much a fan of more angular guitar tones... i did like her other song though.
i really didn't like it. sparkles look great on some guitars (e.g. some gretsches), but on the evidence of that example at least, not teles...

Good job I didn't go for the Apricot Sparkle Strat body from Warmoth!
-
might've looked ok in a strat though. if you 80s'd (verbification is fun) it up, anyway.

thought I'd post the link to iplayer for people overseas that may not have caught it yet

^ I think the BBC may check the country where the user originates from and if it's not the UK then they refuse to show it.
However I will try and get the time to capture the stream tonight

Yours is a very subtle sparkle, though, isn't it, Dave?
Actually, that chap's pink Tele is more Flake than Sparkle, now that I think about it. Bigger bits of glitter.
-
Yeah, his was more flake. Like that guy from the Hellecasters'.
Mine's not that subtle close up, and it doesn't come across on a photo that easily.

I was wondering why you were showing us that pic again. I mean, I know you're proud... :p

Too damn right it is! The one on Jools was WAAAAAY bling!
-
