Title: New Pickups
Post by: Bixer on September 25, 2008, 10:27:47 AM
I've been meaning to get new pickups for my Ibanez S470 for well over a year, but the sheer expense of good ones + installation has meant I've never got round to it.

However, it's my 18th birthday soon, so I'm going to use this opportunity to finally ask for some.

As I said, I have an Ibanez S470. I play mostly pretty heavy rock (Muse, QOTSA, RATM, Incubus type tones). However I don't really dab into too much metal. Good cleans are also a must however, as I do use them a lot.

The Nailbomb seems like quite a good choice after looking at them all, but how would it do handling cleans?

It depends what kind of cleans you like, the Nailbomb is quite a midrangey pickup, so it's clean tone is fat and warm. It's very nice but not as bright and twangy as, say, a Mule, and certainly a long way from a Strat or Tele clean tone.

Here's a link to a clean Nailbomb demo I recorded, I hope it helps: http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6209.0 (http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=6209.0)
