Here you go guys, this is one that HJM and myself cooked up over the weekend to demonstrate the Mule humbucker set, nickel covered with Alnico IV magnets.
Guitar: '70 Gibson LP goldtop
Amp: JCM 800(no mods) into 2x 12 cab close mic'ed with a SM57
Backing-bridge p/up direct into JCM800
1st solo- neck p/up no effects
2nd solo-bridge p/up with SD1 and wah
3rd solo-bridge p/up Beano Boost.
HJM plays solo 1&3 and I took solo 2.
Amp settings remained the same through out and no EQ added to the recording.

Ahh...it's over the 2mb limit...Hey Ol help!!!!! We're only guitar pickers here!
LOL.
I *think* I may have found a loop hole which will allow us to upload more than 2 megs.
Working on it... :D
Ol.
If you're desperate you could always share them with yousendit.com or rapidshare.de (i think its .de, anyway), although i appreciate that that is very much a temporary measure only

Man that's some cool stuff!
-
Some nice fiddle playing on that! :)
-
Wow!
I love both the pickup tone and the playing.
You guys have some great feel in those leads. I like the soulful bends. Very tasty!

HJM - Your playing reminds me a bit of Gary Moore.

Cheers Jag, gary's not someone I listen to a lot, but I listen to loads of different styles, so I guess it all comes out in the mix!

this shows why BKP's are gonna be huge

I hear Robben Ford especially with the phrasing-smokin' :D

I agree with you on this one. Except I'd say Robben Ford if Robben Ford were less.....well.....Dull
-
Dull
Robben Ford can pull some scary stuff out of the bag when he has to and the phrasing....... 8) .I'm not a fan of that style in particular but I wish I could play that dull and HJMs seriously got it nailed.Check out the Black dog clip-excellent 8) !

I didn't call HJM's playing dull!!! lol
I really enjoyed it, first time I've really heard him play. I just find Robben Ford a bit sleep inducing is all. Same as Eric Johnson, also capable of scariness but overall just a bit....well....dull :)

Wow, nice stuff. I hear alot of Zakk Wylde licks in what I assume to be Tim. Right on.
Zakk's one of my biggest influences, even though I totally DON'T play like him.
-
Damn, found out
I love the full on style of players like Zakk and it also seemed a natural progression from the blues rock vibe of the track. What it does do is show the capabilities of The Mule when you step on the dirt and really dig in. I've played in an Ozzy tribute for the past 2 1/2 years and have always found it easier to lean towards the Wylde interpretations of the classic Rhoads and Lee material-he seems to inject so much fire into it-anyway I take out LPs on the gigs loaded with Miracle Man humbuckers but I'm using my Mule loaded Goldtop for alot of the show these days. The reward from a lower output set of pickups is a less compressed tone which = dynamics and a more natural, open sustain. You have to dig in a little more but all the chunk is there and the tone is HUGE 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

wow the tone!!! also, your wah solo sounds really navarro-ish, i wish my playing could be as good as yours :)
-
Excellent playing and tone.
very crunchy, and articulated in the NECK.
great for LEADS.
I just miss some agressive Metal rhythm section on this soundclips. Q:)
but i liked the tone. very transparent on leads in both positions

wow, is all i can say. this defitnitely has me sold on the mules... not to mention the marshall jcm800 :D
-
That was VERY kewl, i think i'm gonna go for that in the neck, the nailbomb in the bridge, but no ideas yet of what i'm putting in the middle. Actually never heard better neck pickup tone, it was immense! nice playing you guys. i'm going to practice...
-
Whaou, Tim plays really fast!! :guitar4:
As we say it in France, " ça décoiffe..... "
:crazy2:
-
i hear what your saying on the whole "lower output = more dynamics", i really love playing a low output pickups but i find them a lot harder to play for the faster stuff so it's a trade off really depends what your after.
-
Ooh yeah is the SD1 in this clip the Keeley one or a stock one?
-
Keeley 5 star mod SD1. 8)
-
The solo is amazing :o

I must purchase myself one
-
wow Tim, nice playing, I recieved the mule on tuesday and I'm having them fitted tommorow, and I cant wait! this clips reminds me why I chose them over any other of your humbuckers.
-
Love the tone and I could really hear Warren's sound. Were these potted or unpotted?
-
I would say they're potted, the unpotted pups are a fairly recent product, compared to these clips anyway :)

Thanks for the tip. I'd like to hear some heavy rythym riiffing with this pup.
-
These were indeed potted coils.
-
Just wondering, which speakers were in the 2x12 used for this recording?

Try downloading again... try playing in an alternative player. It works fine here in WMP and VLC.

Tim your solo is killer!!!
