As the question says...

Good god...
-
Yuck!
-
I like it. The bottom horn wing is a bit weird.
That said, I probably wouldn't buy one - too untraditional
I think its the headstock that I love
-
I like the Firebird-ish aspects of the design, but it's ridiculously big.
Is R Smith some kind of giant?
-
I want to like it,just not sure that I really do though. Maybe it one of them you just got to try!
-
I voted against but it would probably look better on. Other than that, not my cup of tea.
-
A fine looking guitar. Who wants to look like everybody else anyway ?
-
no thanks
-
Damn, need to clean the puke in my keyboard now
-
it looks like it would suit robert smith. Some of the design elements dont really go together very naturally.. but i like it anyway!
-
It's hideous.
-
I really want to try one.
It looks somehow not quite right, much like Robert Smith I suspect (come on. A Goth? At HIS age???) - but I kinda like that.
Mark.

Two points:
1. You're right PQ, it's 'effing HUGE!

2. In the right hands, it's 'effing cool!

His playing in the Cure Great his playing in the Siousxie and the Banshees Great that guitar not great!
-
The question confuses me. Wouldn't the Guitar From Hell be exceedingly cool? At any rate I don't like it. :P
-
It looks like it's trying to be new and different, while attempting to be cool, but just failing. Unfortunately. It's a nice idea, but looks too weird for my liking.

You're not gonna go all "pick of destiny" on me now, are ya?
-
Interesting... it doesn't have a tone control...

I was thinking more along the lines of a guitar that's a hell-spawn mixture of the bones of fornicators and the sinew of thieves and gluttons.

Geez, Billy Corgan and now Robert Smith! The guitar Gods are really struggling to find a few decent names to throw on guitars these days.
-
how dare you!!! Billy corgan may be an arse but his music is good and the fender signiture would be a great guitar.. i would obviously change the pickups but how many 70's looking hardtail strats are readily availble at the moment without his signiture strat

How dare you II!!!
Robert Smith is COOL!
Have you heard his colab with Reeves Gabrels? Yesterday'a Gone - It's superb!
PS - I don't know who Billy Corgan is...
-
I just threw up in my mouth a little bit when I saw that. :P
-
I met Robert Smith and he is a pretty big guy (compared win me anyay)
I sort of like it but I don't know why

+1 - Corgan was always by my side when I was growing up (not literally!)

Totally agree on all points (including BC being an arse). And I'm already on record as a fan of his signature Strat.
In the right hands, it's 'effing cool!

I like the guitar the left handed chappie is playing in that clip! :D
Oh, and I agree Robert Smith is cool too, although I'm not really a fan of his music.

i think we need a picture of it now:

if i was buying a strat it would be this one

I was really seriously considering it, but I didn't want to get it then immediately ditch the pickups, it seemed silly to do that. So I went the partscaster route instead, with a Highway 1 neck which is basically the same as a Corgan neck anyway.

Think prefered the ultra III which was similar (http://fleckguitar.com/images/guitars/schecter/ultra-3.jpg)..played great and sounded great as well(obviously would eventually have BKP)

I KINDA like that, but I HATE Bigsby trems, and I'm not sure about the pups... Are the HBs?
-
^ :o Hate Bigsby's!? HOW?! WHY?! :o
-
yeah S/D's as I remember...
-
^ :o Hate Bigsby's!? HOW?! WHY?! :o
I don't know... Irrational, probably. I just hate the look.

I love the look, but they're such big clunky things they seem more trouble than they're worth. Although I am thinking of putting a Maestro - another big clunky thing - on a guitar sometime.
-
god damn these fender signitures... i want this
(http://elderly.com/images/fmic/30N/FJMJM_front.jpg)
the finish may be gayer than macca with an upside down esquire but i reckon i am cool enough to pull it off
-
You'd have to be *L*

Is that the J Mascis sig? I thought it was purpler than that.
-
I'm suffering serious GAS for this - I almost bought one in the early 80's but went for a 57 reissue strat instead. I am going to try it today and if it plays OK I will probably end up getting it - then I think a set of cold sweats might be in order!!
-
Never liked this headstock and always think it should be nice with a ponty headstock... This proves I was right:

Soo sad Warmoth can't do this body anymore

Waaaay too many switches on that, PK...

yeah it is, in some pic its looks more purple.
I'm with phil on the bc rich - i much prefer the older style, its a great looking guitar and the headtsock does not need to be pointy. I can even cope with the switches but would draw the line at the chickenhead

Me too - I don't actually like the complex controls, but to me that early BC Rich style is what they should look like.
-
The chickenhead is a 6 position switch for the pre-amp (remember this is a late 70's design!).

I have an Ultra III and it's a killer guitar. They're weird pickups actually, Duncan Designed FG-101s which seem to be somewhere between a mini-humbucker and a Gretsch vibe. I would dearly love to get the scratch together to put some decent mini-hums in there instead, because the stock pickups don't combine with each other well at all, and are all but inaudible in "split" mode. The Bigsby works a lot better than I was expecting, and the tuning stability is solid due to the roller saddles in the bridge. I paid £250 for mine, new, in a Sound Control sale and I think it's the best guitar bargain I've ever scored.
I like the Robert Smith signature as well, but I tried one and it was way too big and unwieldy for me. The big body definitely contributes to a rich, spoony, hollowbody-esque sound, but it also looks like you're playing an Ikea table. Oh, and it should be neon green instead of black.
-
yeah as one I tried was about £600
