Title: New AC/DC album Black Ice preview.
Post by: Ratrod on September 28, 2008, 11:47:31 AM
I can hardly wait for the new AC/DC album wich will be released on October the 20th.

You can now hear two songs on the following site, so put on your devil horns, turn up the speakers and start nodding your head to the beat.

Love those guys! Rock n Roll Train rawks, an instant classic!
You have to love ACDC, they always deliver the goods. No BS, just the same old unmistakeable rock n roll!

yeah, it's an instant AC/DC classic but I wish they'd give it a bit more crunch on the guitars, they sound a bit thin (though that could be my laptop speakers).

Mal's tone sounds a bit too smooth, where is that gnarly, snarly midrange that you can hear on the riff at the start of Dirty Deeds DDC ???

Angus' tone seems light on the bass and a bit too polite as well.  He's definately playing much cleaner these days.

The playing is great as ever, I just think the recording has been over-produced and taken out all the rough edges that make AC/DC great.

It sounds good, and the album will be good, and of course I'll buy it.  But it's not.... exciting.

It would be cool if they've somehow managed to throw in a couple of surprises - they've had eight years to think about it.

I found the tone very similar to the Stiff Upper Lip tone. It's cleaner but that lets the guitars breathe more IMO.

they've been going for over 30 and haven't managed it thus far...

kidding, i love ac/dc. but it is pretty obviously "them" when you hear a song by them which you don't know...

But that's the thing, the first few albums are actually a lot more diverse - mainly because they had Bon Scott, who had a strong personality, a great sense of humour and used the songs to tell stories.

Now Brian Johnson just sings the songs the Young boys give him, and they're still cool... but all the same.

For me, the guitar tone is not what I was hoping for. Maybe their tastes have matured - sadly Angus's dress sense hasn't. :?

Not worth hanging up the uniform for one last album/tour.  If he was going to ditch it, he should have done a while ago.

Or never started wearing it, like me  :)

Well it sounds like ACDC which is always a good thing. The tone isnt as good as Highway to Hell but what is?
